Guest guest
Hi Ann I don't know if Chiari can get you out of jury duty or not; but I can tell you how --I-- got out of it in NJ. I don't have Chiari, my 4 year old nephew does. However I have Neurofibromia. The funny thing is I actually wanted to serve when this happened! When I sent back the form I told the Court I'd like to serve but I needed certain accomadations made. Among them were, needed to be in an air-condtioned Court room; needed to be near an elevator, needed a cushioned (seat and back) chair; needed to be able to walk around every so often; that I needed to be able to drink somethin when I was thirsty. I think we listed 6 things. I asked my doctor to write a letter requesting due to my medical condition the accomations be made. Needless to say, the Courts did NOT want to make them so they told me I didn't have to serve. In my case, I was annoyed because I wanted to serve; but my family and friends told me not to push it. My point is, ask your doctor to write a note, then list all kinds of accomendations. Chances are they aren't going to want a trail disrupted by someone walking around, drinking etc.
