Guest guest
Dear friends, I thank you for all the answers to my questions. It seems I may have opened a box of pandoras with my question as to the choice each person must make for treatment. Be assured that we have had since September to make our decisions. My husband was completely informed of his choices by his urologist, who is also my urologist and we have known him for several years. He would have been happy to do whatever my husband wanted to do, and he chose the surgery. We realize that it will be a longer recovery, but we are retired and have lots of time to give to the process. My husband just wants it out. And hopefully the surgery will do the trick - if not, we shall cross that bridge. I personally have had over a dozen orthopedic surgeries over the 36 years we have been married. I know that they are diffent than abdominal surgeries, but I do know a thing or two about anesthetics, pain control and recovery. We are both aware of the leakage issues, etc. My question had more to do with cooking, laundry, etc. as they are very difficult for me to do after a lifetime of rheumatoid arthritis. That's all. You all have been most kind, and I am sure once you have been through this procedure, you have many thoughts, good and bad to share. I could tell you a few also. We are not nervous - just anxious to put it behind us and get on with our lives. Hospitals are very comfortable places for my husband as he spent 9 years as a hospital chaplain. Once again, keep the thoughts coming. I do appreciate it.
