I am Jane Anne King's husband and I would like to inquire of all of you if you have heard of the medication Avonex. I understand that it is prescribed mainly for MS patients and is reported to inhibit the progression of the degenerative aspects of the disease (nothing to say about any rehabilitative properties). Our son has a friend who takes it and according to her, it consists of 1 shot (injection) per week given at home and is around $1000.00 per month for the prescription. It does have side effects which include the gamut of flu-like symptoms. The girl who takes it says she usually has to take 4-6 aspirins on the day she takes the shot. I wonder if this might also benefit PLS patients. Has anyone else heard of this or have any experience with it? Will certainly appreciate any info. Thanks.
