Hello Everyone,

My name is Helmi and I am new to the group. I was Dx'ed with MS 2

years ago.

I have truly been enjoying the posts since joining and have discovered

some

useful options through them.

I wanted to address the baby question. As a background to what I am to

write,

Parenting (I have 2 children), Breastfeeding, and Health are my

passions, so I do

a lot of research.

The newest information I have found states that women with MS tend to

go into

remission while pregnant. After birth there is a kind of " rebound "

effect with

exacerbations, as if the body was storing them up thru the last 9

months.

However if the mother exclusively BREASTFEEDS, the rebound effect does

NOT

occur and she helps protect her infant from developing MS in the

future.

So bottom line - trust nature and our bodies design. Having a baby is

not

detrimental to a woman with MS as long as she trusts her body, her

baby,

and breastfeeds.

I hope this helps and I give anyone references to this information if

they

would like.

Helmi

Blessings of the season!

I'm thinking about having a kid, but I polled ALL of my docs, and they

told me

not to. Anyone else go through this?
