I don't know the answer, but there is a major Indian drug

company making a product they call " Osteofos " that is a generic

Fosamax and is something like 10-20% of the cost from the Indian

Internet pharmacies. India doesn't recognize American drug

patents.

I know someone who has taken it for some months and says it

appears to be identical in taste and side effects - which

hopefully means it really is sodium alendronate.
