PCRI is pleased to announce:

The PROSTATE CANCER CONFERENCE - 2008

State-of-the-Art Treatments for Early Stage and Relapsed Prostate Cancer

SEPTEMBER 6-7

Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport, California

FOR DETAILS AND REGISTRATION - www.pcri.org

EARLY STAGE DISEASE

The first part of the conference will focus on early stage disease.

** MARK MOYAD MD, a leading alternative medicine expert at University of

Michigan, will de-mystify the situation on dietary supplements.

** PETER CARROLL MD, Professor and Chair of Urology at UCSF, the host of

last year's first-ever International Conference on Active Surveillance, will

present the latest thinking on this popular alternative to immediate

treatment.

** RICHARD BABAIAN MD, Professor of Urology from MD , will be

presenting his research into using the new PCA-3 urine test to estimate if a

man's tumor is small enough for safe monitoring.

** DUKE BAHN MD, the Director of the Prostate Institute of America will give

us an overview of the latest on focal therapy - treatment aimed specifically

at the tumor inside the prostate instead of attempting to destroy the whole

gland with surgery or radiation.

** VERNE VARONA, the author of Nature's Cancer Fighting Foods will explain

how to inhibit cancer with an optimal diet.

** DANIEL MARGOLIS MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at UCLA, will share

the latest information on imaging prostate cancer.

RELAPSED DISEASE

Studies show that testosterone deprivation therapy is remarkably effective;

on average, it controls prostate cancer for eleven years after a relapse

occurs. However, the side effects of testosterone blockade multiply as

treatment duration is extended.

** STEPHEN STRUM MD, Medical Oncologist and one of the authors of the A

Primer on Prostate Cancer, will discuss the optimal approach to intermittent

hormone blockade.

** MARK SCHOLZ MD, the executive director of the PCRI, will summarize the

latest research on new, less toxic treatments that can be used in lieu of

hormone therapy.

** MICHAEL STEINBERG MD, the Director of Radiation Therapy at UCLA, will

inform how state-of-the-art radiation can in some cases cure relapsed

disease.

ADVANCED DISEASE

** CHARLES " SNUFFY " MYERS MD, Director of the American Institute for Disease

of the Prostate, will be addressing the treatment of oligo-metastasis,

speaking about innovative methods aimed at curing minimal metastatic

disease.

** RICHARD LAM MD, the Director of Research at Prostate Oncology

Specialists, will address the question, " What are the most effective of

chemotherapy combinations? "

** NICHOLAS VOGELZANG MD, Director of the Nevada Cancer Institute will be

discussing more accurate ways to monitor advanced disease and

non-chemotherapy treatments.

** HOWARD SOULE PhD, the Chief Scientific Officer for the Prostate Cancer

Foundation, the largest philanthropic research foundation for prostate

cancer in the world, will talk about the latest discoveries.

THIS CONFERENCE IS FOR YOU. DON'T MISS IT

While the presentations are the foremost attractions of the conference,

there are other conference events that should be of interest to you and your

family as well as caregivers, medical professionals - indeed anyone involved

in prostate cancer matters. For example, you can interact with speakers

after every presentation; you can submit questions relating to your own

personal situation for a panel discussion; you can examine exhibits and talk

with participating supporters; and you can interact with other PC patients

with experiences and situations like yours. UsTOO, the largest support group

network in the country, will be conducting meetings throughout the

conference so men and spouses can connect with others facing the same

challenges.

PCRI INTRODUCES THE HARRY PINCHOT AWARDS

A special highlight will be the presentation of the first " Harry Pinchot

Awards " for " Exemplary Service to the Prostate Cancer Community " . See the

PCRI website for details on how to nominate an individual for this award.

The conference is produced by the Prostate Cancer Research Institute in

partnership with National Prostate Cancer Coalition, Patient Advocates for

Advanced Cancer Treatments (PAACT), Prostate Cancer Foundation and UsTOO.
