Guest guest
Sherri, I have never been on anti-depressants but years ago suffered severe anxiety attacks and depressive symptoms. I made an appointment with a psychiatrist who diagnosed "anxiety neurosis" after one session. I was steered (by someone else) to read up on hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)--and was amazed to find all my "anxiety" and "depression" symptoms listed!! I was correctly diagnosed as having hypoglycemia after taking a 6-hour glucose tolerance test. I immediately began following a low-carb diet (required to control hypoglycemia) and my symptoms completely disappeared within 4-6 weeks. I learned that high-insulin levels can cause emotional/anxiety/depression symptoms and are commonly misdiagnosed as such. Because of my own experience, I suspect that many people whose depression, etc. dissipates once they are eating low-carb may have simply been misdiagnosed from the beginning. This may not be your situation, but hope this helps! Patti Sherri wrote: I was also curious aboutlow carb and depression. I have heard someone say they were able to quittaking their anti depressants because of low carb. I would love to hear whatanyone has to say about that because I have been on them for about 4 monthsand hate the way I feel when I take them..loveSherri
