Guest guest
, That's cool your son and I have the same name. My dad's name is mikkel. He goes by mike though. They wanted me to be a boy and I was going to be michael. When they found that I was a girl they decided to call me michel. I knwe all along it was a boys name in france so when I had my son I gave him my name for his middle name since it really is a boys name. As for your son I really feel for him but it sounds like he is just going to be a big man. Maby all the weight is just his body getting ready change. I am thinking in a few years he just might grow in to alot of his weight. I think your doing a great job with him and just keep up the great work. No matter what size or shape you are growing up is never easy but things will look up for him later on. That's great he has a friend that makes all the diffrence. My poor daughter is the only girl on the street and farther down there is a few mexican girls but they would rather play with eachother since they don't speek english well yet. SO I am all my daughter has for now. She tryes to be me it's so cute! Hope you have a great day and take care. Guest guest
Ang, I am so dence about this stuff but what does it meen if she is at 25% safty zone? SO where does that put her on the scale? How much over avrage does that make her so can you tell about who over weight she is? Ya she is going to be tall. All the women on my husbands dads side are tall. SO do you think I should worry about her weight? Thanks for taking the time to do this for me! Guest guest
Well, she is so tall (just like my son) that she is off the chart. hold on ---- I'll go see if I can dig a pic of one up so you can see what I mean...(sure wish my scanner ws working :-( Anyway, let's say she was at 50% in hight. So long as she wasn't over the 75% in weight whe sina't at risk of being an obese adult ect. (her hieght being 50%, add 25% to that and you get the 75%). Now these lines and percentages aren't figured up in such a way that they figure up exact if you were to mathmaticaly figure them out - so that doesn't nesseccarily mean that she would be 25% to fat or anything like that. What it meens is that MOST kids (wieght wise) fall safely and normally withing 25% of their hight range. gIt takes into account that kids go through these phases...and seems to me there are only a handful of patterns they follow. Your daughter seems to be on the same track my oldest was on. My little one is on the same track his dad was on. I was on the typical girl track --- in which I was a good weight baby (little bit of chub to keep mom and gram happy but not fat), got thin as soon as I started walking - stayed thin till I hit about 10 then startred putting on the 'getting ready to become a woman' fat...got chunky till I hit 13, lost that 'baby' fat and got my curves. From then on out it was all dependant on my eating and activity level, just as an adult. Some kids are like my brother was and his little guy - start out fine and become skeletons that keep mom worried for years and not fillout till they hit their adolecence. There are alot of different 'trends' that are in the normal grow up thing for kids...but in the thousands of kids I have worked with and care fore and some even lived with me...reguardless of the genetics - they all (but 2) fall within those trends. The one who did have a problem with weight - although there wasn't any diference in just looking at her - I could tell almost immediately. Most of the kids I got were either way too thin or way too heavy when they first came to me...I expect that - as very few caregivers feed them propperly it seems --- either nothing but fast food, or crazy health nuts who won't let them have an ice cream cone on fridays. Usually withing a few weeks of not drinking soda and kooliad all day and eating a varied diet (including junk and sweets), they start changing in the way they act and look. (Not just behavior - but energy level and lathargic type stuff - many adults easily make the mistake of saying the child is depressed or has 'problems'. For her - she didn't get that 'spark' back that kids should have. And although she didn't gain or loose weight (which I wouldn't expecxt so soon anyway), she didn't get that 'look' --- how do I explain it (gosh, I go so much by the feelings I get that I don't even think in terms of expanations)...well - the way they stand for instance - is it self supported, alert/awake - or standing there as if they have worked a 14 hour shift and are ready to drop, or as if they are 'melty'/too relaxed. Their eyes - you can see it in their eyes as well - that good contact or distance struggle to grasp the here and now, are they eyes shineyand sparkly, moist looking. Also - if she'll let you - take a good look at her iris's. Are they pretty even? Not in size but as far as textured collar? If you look closely you'll see the iris isn't just one solid color, it is like little lines of collor running out from the puple. Are any of those lines very dark compared to the rest? Now look to see if there are 'lines' - like circles going around...clear, but there. Enough of that - I have no clue how this got so long --- I ramble so...sorry :-) Ang > Ang, > > I am so dence about this stuff but what does it meen if she is at 25% > safty zone? Guest guest
Hi ang, Well I will start by telling you the pattern she has went through. When she was born she was 7.11 and 19 inches. She was breast fed so she stayed chubby until she started crawling. THen when she started walking and running she got really shin. She was about on the low end of avrage in weight nothing to be alarmed about. Then when she hit her third birthday she started looking perfect and healthy. Then from there she really took a leap in her weight and ended up on the high end of avrage in weight. Then throught that third year she packed on a lot of weight. Then by her 4th birthday she looked chubby not real bad but she just keeps slowely inching the weight on and she is getting taller just as fast as she is getting bigger. I know my middle chile did the same thing but he didn't get as big as she did I don't think. Or it could be thet he was a boy so it wasn't as noticable as it is on her. If you think it's fine then I won't worry so much about it I will just keep her from eating so much junk. She does seem to have a big appatite though. It's weird I could never get her to eat now she wan't to eat everything. At the reunion yesterday she ate her plate of food and then her little brother left his plate so she just ate it for him. I normaly would have said something but I could tell she would have gotten really imbarrassed so I didn't take it from her or say any thing. I don't know if this has anything to do with her weight but she didn't want to play with the other little girls. SHe acted like she was too shy to go over there. THey all came up to her to say hi and she still didn't want to go over there and that's just not like her. She is usually really out going. Maby she is already being teased and I just haven't herd it. Maby I am just making this bigger then it is. Everyone did say how cute her hair looked today so I know that made her feel good.
