I read the site about high protein diets, I just have

one thing to throw in. eskimos have the highest

protein diet and also consume the most calcium, but

they have the highest rate of osteoperosis of any

people...I would be skeptical of anyone who advocates

an abnormally high protein, carb or fat diet for ANY

reason. Lets use our intuition a bit here, BALANCE is

the key. Complex carbs, quality protein and good

fats, all in balance, is the key to good health.

This whole thing about getting enough protein is kind of silly.

Mother's milk is 5% protein and infants are in need of protein more

than adults...

And vegetarians aren't necessarily eating a high carbohydrate

diet...vegetables aren't that high in carbohydrates. It's the 20th

century methods and diets that have found ways to up the

carbohydrates.

Basically you should eat whatever makes you feel better...some eat hot

dogs for that purpose. Listen to your body and you'll find the food

that's right for you.

No one is talking about an abnormally high amount of meat or protein. It's

just eating more protein than carbs per meal, and having a good quality fat

in your diet. You eliminate potatoes pretty much, white breads, flour

products, white rice, pasta, etc. Eat good meats, preferably free range (not

feed lot meats), and eat lower glycemic fruits and veggies, replace white

breads with more grain breads, and of course cut out sugar and sweet junk and

drink lots or water. People tend to refer to this as high protein diets, and

it's really not so, it's just cutting way back on empty carbs that rush into

your system the same as straight granulated sugar. Hope this helps some.
