surgery date

Hello everyone, I have gotten some wonderful news.My son Robby was a

year old yesterday and has a profound hearing loss due to a mondini

deformity.We have been going through the evaluations for the CI and were

really worried since we were told that they probably wouldn't be able to

fit in all of the electrodes because of the mondini.Well, we had to take

him to New York for an MRI, and we met with doctor Cohen and he said

Robby has enough of his cochlea for all of the electrodes and his

surgery date is July 22nd.We have decided on the Nucleus 24.We got the

news on Friday and on Saturday we had a big birthday party for him.That

little piece of news made it even more exciting.Robby has other issues

also, and he has been through so much in his first year of life, the

implant is pretty much the last surgery [that we know of] that he will

need.I held him yesterday and thought back to the day he was born, when

I didn't know if my son was going to live.And holding him yesterday just

made me cry tears of joy because not only is my little angel alive, but

I know now that he is going to be just fine and he is going to live a

life full of opportunities and miracles.Well, I think I've rambled on

enough for tonight.I'm just so thankful to eveyone on the list for being

here to help ourselves and help each other go through the hurdles that

God has chosen for us in life.

Your news was indeed wonderful. Congratulations. I shall be thinking of you

on July 22, which will be a very easy date to remember since it's my

birthday. News of a successful implant for Robby would be one of the best

possible birthday gifts I could receive (even if new of it comes after the

22nd). Once again, congratulations.
