Guest guest
Hello all ... It's been difficult for me to find time to post, and I keep thinking of questions and forgetting them before I ever get them posted. This particular question I have remembered. Since being on the list probably three months or more, I have never seen a discussion on possible anxiety related matters and Chiari. I ask this because my dad suffered from severe anxiety/depression most of his life. I never knew what anxiety or anxiety attack was until 1995 when my symptoms worsened to the point I was dx with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It was at that time I began having panic attacks, etc. As dad got older, this problem with him became much worse--it could be because he " tranquilized " himself with alcohol and anxiety meds for most of his life. At the point of alcohol cessation, his attacks were severe until he was dx with mitral valve prolapse and put on a beta blocker at this point in his life. I had been on a beta blocker for almost ten years when my anxiety problems began ... just wondering if I am alone in this or if possibly it could be Chiari/brain stem related? Blessings to all ... JC (Just Crystal) PS: Happy Thanksgiving to all ... I most likely will not be posting to the list until possibly next week so sending my wishes for the best Thanksgiving of all. Oh, how thankful I am to finally be diagnosed--a prayer I have prayed for about twenty years! (and my cup truly runneth over with the blessings of family, friends, support--and my belief that they all have their origination in Christ, my Lord.) Guest guest
Crystal, I have also been experiencing anxiety problems, but it is hard to tell if it is related to ACM itself, the surgery, or other factors. I had never had anxiety problems before, I had always been an easy-going type person. Then I had decompression surgery 12/98, and my anxiety problems started about 3 months later. However, this was also around the time my teenage son started having severe emotional problems. My personal theory is that they both are contributing to the anxiety. Have a great Thanksgiving, Sheila Crystal Haynes wrote: > I had been on a beta blocker for almost ten years when my anxiety problems > began ... just wondering if I am alone in this or if possibly it could be > Chiari/brain stem related?
