Guest guest
Thanks, Shari. Good points - I know, I totally agree with you. I too thought that she was pushing the deflation because it made it easier for her - when I asked her under which conditions it was easier to operate she said 'without deflation - just taking the implants out intact', so I guess ease was not her motivator. I am coming to the conclustion that she thinks she is soooo sure she knows myself better than I do - she really thinks I won't like how I look because I bet she thinks small breasted women just can never look good. She herself has rather large ones, and I doubt they are genuine - and she keeps referring to her 20 yrs experience, and most of the time when she has explanted, the women are back in surgery in no time to get them in again. I definitely am NOT going to deflate that is for sure. It seems pointless, dangerous and creepy to walk around with those bags in and leaking tiny bits of fluid. Since the first ps lied about how my procedure was done, we also don't really know for sure WHAT kind of implants I have either, so that makes it even riskier! It's soo great how you all help my decision making process! Have you all seen those cell phone commercials where the network travels with the person - that is how I feel with the plastic surgeons, lol. Dozens of you ladies standing behind me going 'now, wait a minute, doc'..... The bra thing conerns me though, more than other things. I may NOT heed her advice on this and get info from dr. melmed and you all on what you wore. The first time she mentioned I could wear an underwire after explant that was sheer cotton, but I always thought underwire was bad after breast surgery. She prefers I wear nothing. I just bought two A cup bras today. one is just soft cotton, unlined. > > shannon > > I would definitely agree with patty here - I can really think of no really > good reasons why this doctor is insistent on these things and the bra thing I > have never heard of.... Guest guest
-Underwire!!!! No way that would be comfortable, soft is best, I wore a bra that was soft and was kinda small on me with the implants, I mean it fir but they will coming out all over so I figured after the surgery it would fit just right and it did, I was really broke by the time I had my surgery and couldn't even afford the hebiclense, vitamins, that I was suppose to use three days before surgery, so I couldn't afford to even go buy a new bra, Terri P -- In , " Emerald Kittee " <emeraldkittee@...> wrote: > > Thanks, Shari. Guest guest
Hi again well - I have to say I am a little relieved.... I had to walk around with one deflated breast for less than a week and it was totally grossing me out... I can not imagine doing it for several week but that is just me... and this was way before I knew they had garbage growing inside them. Knowing what I know now - the mess that was inside of mine when they were removed??? I would never consider having them drained and walking around like that as letting a drop more of that fluid get inside of me than absolutely necessary... of course yours could be completely uncontaminated but it still grosses me out to think of it... that bag felt really nasty rolling around in there for sure.... and the fact that she was mentioning the braless thing is just weird.... my doc was very firm about tight bandages then tight sports bras for weeks before I could wear a regular bra to support to tissue and I would guess keep pressure on the area to avoid bleeding.... and the idea of underwire is crazy to me.... I have been explanted for over 3 years and still find it extremely hard to wear underwire..... it is not comfy at all.... I wear soft bras with plenty of support - the soft boning but not wire and certainly not after the surgery. I wore the sports bras for at least 4 weeks... I had a total of 4 breast surgeries and in all of them I was told to do the sports bra thing for at least a month. I am almost thinking telling you to go braless right after an explant is just begging for a lift down the road before you have had a chance to heal.... just doesn't sound right to me to not have that firm support.... of course I am not the doctor here.... good luck with whatever you decide!! I am glad you are leaning against the draining, though... sounds weird... shari
Guest guest
Yes, thanks Shari. And if I go with this ps, I might even just wear the type of bra that everyone here has, and do research on that. I really can't imagine her logic either. I can see not wearing an underwire, or demi or something that would contort the tissue, but something supportive and soft that holds the tissue in seems ideal. I did have the awful thought of 'could it be she is suggesting it so I do have problems and need another surgery?' but I don't think that is the case. It does still trouble me though and she does want me to wear shirts wth those little shelf bra things - but honestly, I cannot buy a whole new wardrobe with those kinds of shirts only. I may tell her I have a friend who was explanted (I haven't told her about this group) and that she wore a sports bra and see what her response is. I did leave her a message tonight saying that deflation was not right for me. Yuk, you poor thing having to have one deflated in you for awhile - that must have been so hard to sleep and shower, etc! And you had a bandage after the surgery? Gosh I wonder if I would leave with a full bandage on or what? Oh, she asked me if I was tightly bandaged after my implant and I said yes - she didn't seem to agree with having them on for as long as I did - so, it's something with her philosophy of healing - even with implants she takes the bandage off fairly soon. I am looking forward to the lympathic massages though - pricey as they will be and making time 3 xs a week for them - it will be a nice feeling to just visualize all the toxins leaving. > > Hi again > > well - I have to say I am a little relieved.... Guest guest
I remember they gave me 2 bras after implants - they were really unique - very tight and totally sheer, maybe nylon or something. I believe they were Maidenform, but I never saw anything like it since. It would be great for explant too, I guess. - > > > > > > shannon > > > > > > I would definitely agree with patty here - I can really think of > > no really > > > good reasons why this doctor is insistent on these things and the > > bra thing I > > > have never heard of.... Guest guest
Dr. Melmed recommended a plain cotton sports bra and said that Walmart made good ones. I went to Walmart and sure enough, they had a very nice " Bestform " bra. The front hook closure was very important -- I didn't have to reach around or even lift my arms to put the bra on. It was under 4 dollars, I think. Even though my breasts are very small, I needed that support and the " cheap " Walmart bra was perfect. Now I wear a Lily of France bra only -- it has memory foam padding and support, no underwire. Something about the memory foam gives me a nice breast shape and even though I am not a full A cup, this A fills IN to fit my breast shape, as well as out. It feels great, looks like all me, and keeps the 'lil sisters nice an cradeled during the day. I am two months out and I can't imagine wearing underwire yet. Guest guest
Good for you, Dawn. I have never shopped at Walmart, though, and never will, unless they change management practices. ;-) > > Dr. Melmed recommended a plain cotton sports bra and said that Walmart > made good ones.
