Guest guest
Kay- Great background! You have reason to be proud. Thank you for posting this particular page, I just missed a brush-up class for sign and can really use this info now! Jana

Guest guest
>I sat down and worked some more on it and not only >did I finally get it right, but it turned out better than I ever dreamed it >would. I'm just so proud of it that I had to let you all see it. Glad you did! It's very nifty. What a multi-talented woman you are. I did have to laugh, tho. On that page, it states, " Have a chat with his teacher using ASL ( kinda lets the teacher see your skill level and give you a chance to ask any questions you may have.) " Broke me up, because every time I tried to chat in ASL with any of JJ's teachers, I was accused of " harassing " them. Teachers have notoriously poor sign skills. Guest guest
Thanks for the cudo's on the background. I hadn't really seen a sign language background that was...how shall I say this...gave sign language the respect and dignity it deserves. I've seen a few of them around, but they were " cheap " looking or too " cartoonie " . I've actually been working on trying to create this background for a couple of months now, but when I sat down to work on it the other night, it just worked. >I did have to laugh, tho. On that page, it states, " Have a chat with >his teacher using ASL ( kinda lets the teacher see your skill level and >give you a chance to ask any questions you may have.) Well, lets just hope that all teachers aren't like that. I have to think that somewhere out there, teachers have the ASL skills needed to not only converse with their students (and their parents), but to also raise the students signing skills to a higher level. Please tell me that somewhere in this country this is the case! Hope JJ is having (had) a fantastic birthday. Hugs, Kay

Guest guest
<<<For a while now, I've had an idea for a background I wanted to create for some of my web pages. I just could never seem to get it to turn out anything like what I had floating around in my head.... I sat down and worked some more on it and not only did I finally get it right, but it turned out better than I ever dreamed it would.>>> Kay, I visited the page and it looks great. Did you do that from " scratch " ? Betty
Guest guest
It looks wonderful those bears are so cute. The tips are just what I needed to get motivated again to learn more signs. It seems like I do ok for a while and then there is sort of a lull in learning them. Thank you so much. Take care, Nikki
Guest guest
Kay, I LOVED it, I saw it earlier this week when I was surfing and didn't know you had done it from scratch. I wouldn't even know where to start!! Great job! Orla

My sons' teacher (hearing) also teaches at the interpreter training course at the local college and that is one of the main reasons we left him in that school for two yrs. The same teacher is a total control freak but our sons' ASL skills amaze even deaf parents!! He also has a gym teacher who is Deaf and has SUPERB signing skills and then Beth , a deaf actress does storytelling and ASL with the kids every day too. So, for the last 2 yrs his signing skills have EXPLODED!! Wonderful to see but Dad gets a little po'd cuz he can't keep up (shh, Mom sometimes has a hard time too!!) Guest guest
Kay, My Jake was with me when I went to the page you posted about. He was trying to figure out which CS handshape that was!!!! He was saying *What cue?* I told him it was sign language and he started trying to make the sign and saying *Jake sign tangwich* Anyway, we thought it was cute and he is still trying to get his fingers in position!!! And when he does, he'll be signing I Love You, which is the only sign JD knows. I guess if you're going to only learn one sign, it's the best one to know. JD just informed me he knows another one, Love. Guess he's all set for the teenage years...sigh. Hugs to all. Kay
