You can lose volume over time. The saline can slowly evaporate (or what ever the technical term for the process would be). Mine started out at 475cc, and I guarantee you they are no where near that now. I was almost a DDD, then went to a DD, and am at best now a full D. (And it's nothing to do with band size or brand, either.) For the first few years I noticed this, there was no size change yet -just a change in volume, and one did it faster than the other. (It could also be slowly leaking out... which could be my case, too -I just hate even thinking about it because I get so mad!) Also, you never know, your doctor may have UNDER filled your implants. They are recommended to fill 25-50cc's OVER the implant size, but some doctors choose to underfill in an attempt to try to make them look more natural or maybe feel not as hard. My doctor did this as well. Maybe you're a victim of one -or both, of these issues.
Guest guest
I finally got my records faxed to me today. First off, I was told they will not release my preop pics to me - if I want to view them, I must contact the dr. directly to see if I can set up a time to see them. The 'records' consist of an operating rpt but the only mention of what was implanted was a 'Siltex' implant - and filled with 540 cc of saline. In googling Siltex, I find it is a Mentor type, but there are many different kinds, round, teardrop, textured, smooth - the records do not reveal a style number either. They mention an expander was put in too. Does anyone know much about these kind? As to the " 540 cc of saline " - this confuses me....when I went back to the original ps to discuss getting them out, he suggested I go smaller and in the course of the conversation said 'you're probably at a 350 cc now'. When I saw the other ps, she guessed the same thing. What is this discrepancy? is it that I was 'so small' prior to surgery they don't realize how much saline they put in? ALSO, the records state that we discussed " possible autoimmune diseases and the shell of the implants " . Oh really???? Oh, no we didn't! what does he mean we discussed the 'shell of the implant'- that they are made of silicone? This is all so sickening, I do feel like he is hiding something. Guest guest
I had Mentor Siltex, the second one I had. It was an expander implant, but was part silicone and part saline. This was in 1990 after a mastectomy. My Siltex was textured. Lynda At 05:36 PM 9/6/2006, you wrote: >I finally got my records faxed to me today. Guest guest
very interesting. I had no idea of either of those issues. It's really a creepy feeling reading the report. > > > > In a message dated 9/6/2006 7:44:59 PM Eastern Standard Time, > emeraldkittee@... writes: > > As to the " 540 cc of saline " - this confuses me....when I went back > to the original ps to discuss getting them out, he suggested I go > smaller and in the course of the conversation said 'you're probably > at a 350 cc now'. Guest guest
So, expander implants were used mostly for mastectomies? That seems to be what I was reading. Wonder why they would use it on some one who didn't have a masectomy? just to create/stretch the tissue? How was yours part silicone and part saline? Just the shell being silicone? This is so eye opening, I can't believe it. > > >I finally got my records faxed to me today.
