Guest guest
I'm glad Melmed will answer your questions. I think it will help. Re: sports bra, I think the snug ones are the ticket, because there is less chance for movement and displacement of tissues. Also, one that zips or closes in the front is a lot easier for those first weeks. From what I understand, the breast tissue is kind of loose and moblie in the pocket left from the implants, and the point is to keep it all in one place until everything heals up. Worked for me--my breasts look fine. I wore a Champion zip-front sports bra-- it wasn't a pretty thing but it was cotton, relatively comfortable and believe me, my breasts did not go anywhere. It does not do the uni-boob thing that some sports bras do. I noticed there is one on ebay for the buy it now price of 3.99.(see link). I bought two, a white and a black. I was really glad to get rid of them but they did their job. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem & item=130002252928 & category=63853 Bindi What kind of bra did you wear after explant? Kind of starting a new thread here to get everyone's input. I hear alot of you wore a sports bra - am I thinking of the right kind of sports bra? What comes to mind, are the ones I use for aerobics that smash you and flatten you? I guess I picture something that kind of gives you a'uni-boob', not two separate cups. I have found some sheer, all cotton numbers at Target that are regular bras - just with no lining, padding, underwire, etc. They seem to gently follow the line of the breast, and appear very soft, yet supportive - might this be appropriate too?I am asking because I would be going against the ps' wishes to go braless for 6 mos (And thanks for all who chimed in on that - I agree it is bizarre) - so if I ended up going to her I would more than likely ignore that recommendation and follow what the majority of you did.Good news - Dr. Melmed will have a phone consult with me. I won't be able to go to him but he says if I send him pics and records, we can talk via phone, so I will ask him for his opinion on what this local ps wants to do. Guest guest
Yep I slept in it, as advised by Melmed. It's not the most comfortable thing to sleep in but you kind of feel like you need the support. I think lots of women slept in their sports bras for a good several weeks. I slept in a real soft cotton bra after I stopped the sports bra, and even now I often sleep in a cotton camisole with light support, but I go without too.
