Guest guest
The doc said at this point she didnt think I needed meds, we are working on reducing a big stress factor in my life, and she also said to exercise more, which I am trying to do. The diabetic educator had suggested Gluco Norm might be a good pill for me if the doc wanted me to go on them, but right now she doesnt. The A1C before this one was 6.1, so I am higher, but I really do believe the stress I mentioned is a large cause of this. I'll see how I do at the next A1C in Jan. or Feb. and talk to my doc then. My A1C two wks > ago was 6.5, so not too bad, all things considered! My take is that you are doing an admirable job without meds so far, but your A1c is edging up, which some would say is not all that bad, but it's not all that good either, long-term considered, and that's what we shoot for. I guess it all comes down to whether there is more damage from the meds, or from the readings you must be running to attain that A1c average, which is what it really is. Personally, with Glucophage, Precose, and many other newer drugs that have been proven I would go for the meds to reduce the numbers, and not feel bad about it.
