Guest guest
This was the number one program that aired at Focus on the Family for 2006. When some of us girls met in Sun Valley Idaho in 2004, I gave each of the girls a copy of Sheri Rose's book "His Princeses". She shares truths about our value and self worth that are comforting and powerful weapons against those voices that tell us we are failures. If I could encourage you ladies to listen to any program about your self esteem and self worth, it would be this one, hands down. Sheri is funny--you will laugh through this--as well as cry over the experiences she shares. Do it, please listen to the this broadcast! By the way, Sheri is Jewish by birth. http://www.oneplace.com/Ministries/Focus_on_the_Family/Default.asp http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Focus_on_the_Family/archives.asp?bcd=2006-12-28 Overcoming the Heartaches of Life, 1 Thursday, December 28, 2006 As an overweight teenager, she was labeled a "whale" by her peers. A teacher declared her a "loser" who would never amount to anything. Deeply wounded by such hurtful insults, Sheri Rose Shepherd vowed to attain physical beauty and worldly success. She became a beauty pageant winner, but it wasn't enough. She wasn't able to overcome feelings of low self-esteem until she discovered how much God loved and valued her. Listen as the former Mrs. United States shares the compelling story of how God healed her emotional wounds."[Ladies,] we don't recognize who we are in Christ -- we don't understand that we really are His princesses, that we really are daughters of the Most High King." -- Sheri Rose Shepherd Overcoming the Heartaches of Life, 2 Friday, December 29, 2006 As a young woman, Sheri Rose Shepherd was dedicated to winning beauty pageant crowns. But since dedicating herself to Jesus Christ, she has attained something far more valuable - the crown of life. She tells how Christ set her free from bulimia and "Barbie bondage" - the obsession over physical perfection. In this uplifting message, Shepherd also shares how God healed her emotional wounds and called her to a unique ministry that is far more fulfilling than worldly success."Weight loss could change my body, but it couldn't change my life. Make-up could cover up my blemishes, but it couldn't cover up my insecurities. Clothes could make me feel cool, but they couldn't make me feel content." -- Sheri Rose Shepherd __________________________________________________
