The question I have is, can how a teacher handles a child's behavior be written into an IEP? andra is 3.5 and is entering our county DHOH preschool program. She has a very low frustration level....I am sure that this setting will tax her a little behaviorly and I want to make sure the teachers and aides handle her in a way I feel comfortable about. I guess that my main concern is that she will have full blown temper tantrum and I would like to suggest ways for them to help her avoid this behavior and when it does happen how I would like it handled. >> I'd go ahead and try to have it put in the IEP as a goal and what the behavior consequence would be Terry

Zak has one, and we find it very helpful. That way his behavior is handled the same by everyone involved, teacher, aid, SLP, OT, PT. You shouldn't have (SHOULDN'T) have a problem getting this in to the IEP, I believe the 97 amendments to IDEA have put even more emphasis on using these plans. Guest guest
The question I have >is, can how a teacher handles a child's behavior be written into an IEP? Yep you sure can! If you have specific areas where you KNOW what is best for your child, or how best to handle a situation, you can surely have it written in there. They may try to resist as that takes some *CONTROL* away from the teacher as to how he/she handles her classroom. The teacher may also WELCOME the advise and be greatful for the imput. Be firm about your choices, and have them included in the IEP. I've had lots of IEP's where I really had to stand my ground to get them *school* to agree to my imput about my child.........*SIGH* and then it's not always followed! Good Luck! and let us know how it goes.
