Maybe there's a safe way! - Rogene Fatty thighs to give breasts uplift -Kate Templeton, Health Correspondent SURGEONS are close to developing the ultimate cosmetic treatment to sculpt the female body. They have successfully carried out “natural” breast enlargements where unwanted fat from women’s hips and thighs is transplanted on to their busts. The procedure allows surgeons to redistribute fat around

women’s bodies, sculpting their figures into an ideal shape. The operations have been carried out on dozens of women in America and British clinics are planning to offer the technique. Sydney , a world-renowned plastic surgeon from New York, has performed about 30 breast augmentations using women’s own fat. “I recently operated on a mother and daughter who both had big love handles. It was easy just to remove it and place it on the chest,” said. If the procedure is perfected it could end the need for silicon implants, which have to be replaced every 10 years. Scarring can occur around the implant causing infections, and many women are reluctant to have artificial materials

introduced into their bodies. Baker, a professor of plastic surgery at Miami University’s medical school, has performed 28 augmentations using women’s own fat over the past two years. “The breasts look normal and feel normal. They are not like breast implants that can become very hard,” he said. Baker believes the technique is ideal for women wanting a modest breast enlargement of about one to one and a half cup sizes because a smaller volume of fat is needed. The Harley Medical Group is planning to offer the procedure. Mel Braham, its chairman, said: “Once scientific clinical trials have taken place and they are peer-reviewed in established medical publications, then this is something that would be of great interest.” Lola Collazo, 28, a medical administrator from Miami, had her breasts increased from a size 36A to a size 36B using fat from her

You know, I asked the plastic surgeon I consulted with about the possibility

of something like this being available. He said that fat from other parts

of the body don't survive in the breast area -- guess he was wrong!

Unfortunately at 100 pounds, I don't have anywhere to suck fat from. :(

From what I understand, fat can be transfered by micro surgery . . . that means taking a chunk of fat, along with it's blood supply . . . transfering it, and connecting the blood supply. There are not many doctors doing this surgery. Probably because they think breast implants are safe. Fat from liposuction won't work . . it may look good momentarily, but it will break down and disappear. Rogene

Generally fat has to have muscle connected to it to work on a transplant.

This new technique doesn't have muscle attached. . . They do have to isolate the blood supply and reconnect it though . . . Very delicate surgery. An implant sister in Dallas was looking everywhere for a surgeon willing to do this to reconstruct her . . . She couldn't find anyone who would take her as a patient. She's a very demanding woman - and I suspect she was turning the few doctors who do this surgery off. Kenda, I had looked at this too, but from what I had read and heard, fat transfers do not have lasting results. I had seen a television show that had followed a woman who had liposuction and had the fat injected into her breasts....it just went away over time. As for the surgical type of fat transfer, I was told by my explanting surgeon that this is a very expensive, involved, and risky surgery that was only reserved for women who had undergone mastectomy, and were in need of reconstruction. They have to make sure there is a blood supply built into the fat that is transferred, and connect it all into the existing blood supply. Sounds involved to be sure. I don''t know if anything has changed that much, but of course, when it comes to making money off of breasts, men will stop at nothing. Patty Kenda Skaggs

LOL! . . . If they could just find a way to make as much money encouraging women's self-esteem! . . . As I understand it, if the fat transfer is done right - blood supply and all, it's permanent - unless, of course a woman loses a bunch of weight.I've been hearing about the fat transfer issue . . . but this was the first time I'd seen an article on it.Rogene

Isn't that the procedure that Dr. Feng does to reconstruct breasts for women with cancer? If you look at her pictures...it looks amazing.

I don't know that Dr. Feng is using the micro-surgery method of fat transfer . . . it's more likely she's doing flap procedures where tissue (including muscle) is moved from the back or stomach. . . Either procedure required giving up strength for appearance. IMHO, that's not a good option. Maybe one of her patients can ask her. Rogene
