Hi Susie,

Remember I am in Canada and our #s are different than yours would be.

Total chol. is 8.04 for hubby which is pretty high so he was told. HDL is

1.08 which is good, LDL is 6.3, which is too high, should be less than

3.4. Tris are good, he had .95 and below 2.3 is good. He does not have

high blood pressure.

Yes he's trim, the lucky guy! However he had a stress test on a treadmill

which showed an enlarged ventricle in his heart but otherwise was

acceptable. Doc put him on 10 mg of Lipitor/day because of the stress

test. He had an echo cardiogram yest. and the doc said she'd call if

anything was amiss and so far no phone call...phew...he is considered a

moderate risk for trouble down the road, so it could be much worse. He's

eating very carefully and well, I knew he would as he's seen how I changed

my diet completely once I found out about the diabetes two yrs ago. He

began eating more salad and low fat and low cal foods the day I started, so

he's got in two yrs of eating much better. He will certainly eat properly,

he'd be too afraid not to!

I read more on this sugar cane wax and it sounds like it is very good at

lowering cholesterol in the area of 20%...I had never heard of this stuff

before, and would like to know more. There does appear to be a lot of info

on the web about it but I wonder if doctors would be in favour of it

(assuming it is safe,) or would it be like carbs, dont tell anyone that

lowering them can help us, let us figure it out on our own. That's how I

view doctors when it comes to diabetics. However, that's another rant!

Dear Elva,

I'm so forgetful ... If you have already provided this, I apologize for

asking again. What was his HDL, and what were his triglycerides? I believe

you said he had a trim build and no hypertension.

Susie

While I don't have a solution, I certainly admire the problem.
