, There are a couple of things you can use to ward off those sugar cravings, or substitute in place of sugar. First, there are several sugar subtitutes that are completely natural and safe. One is called Stevia, and is an herbal leaf that is many times more sweet than sugar, but has none of the damaging effects. Some stevias leave a slight aftertaste that not everyone likes, but I know that stevia is a sweetener used very commonly in Japan and other parts of the world, so it's not bad. There is one brand that I think is better than all the rest, and you can buy it in those sugar packets to make taking it with you easy. It's called Sweet Leaf stevia. reputed to reduce sugar cravings and desenstitize your taste buds to the taste of sweetness. http://www.soulnature.com/herbal/reduce_insulin_pancreatic.htm Additionally, you might want to add chromium picolinate to your supplements, as it plays a role in the maintainence of blood sugar levels that are healthy. http://www.gnutrition.com/articles/supplement/chromium-picolinate.html Finally, there is another sweetener that, while it may not be the best substitute in an anti-yeast diet, it is a better sugar because it actually helps reduce cavities. You may want to use it just to use it when you give in to any sugar indulgence. It is called xylitol. http://www.xylitol.org/ You might want to read a book about this subject. There are several out there, such as Lick The Sugar Habit by Appleton,PhD. She gives a couple ideas for self-help in kicking the addiction. She suggests these (you'll have to get the book to find out the reasons): 1. Don't keep sugar filled foods at home 2. Remove corn from the diet 3. Battle hypoglycemia with carbohydrates such as potatoes, nuts, whole grains 4. Snack on healthy foods 5. Always read labels. Avoid honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, corn sweetner, dextrine, barley malt, rice syrup, glucose, sucrose, and dextrose to name a few. 6. Eat protein in small portions 7. Get help from your friends; use a buddy system 8. Exercise 9. Avoid artificial sweeteners, choose

natural ones if you have to give in. 10. Substitute carob for chocolate 11. Avoid temptation 12. Use delaying tactics 13. Take helpful supplements 14. Avoid soft drinks 15. Keep your body in homeostasis 16. Be aware of psychological stressors 17. Taste sweetness without ingesting sugar (fruit flavored lip gloss?) 18. Set realistic goals These ideas should at least give you some tools to work with in your efforts. , I really don't have any sure tricks . . . Drinking a lot of water will help a little . . . but mostly, it's just toughing it out. . . You can eat a lot of veggies - except those like carrots and peas that have a high sugar content. . . You can visualize sugar as poison. Ridding the house of anything in the house that contains sugar helps a lot. Also taking probiotics (they provide the soldiers that kill off the yeasties, it will help immensely. Artificial sweetners really aren't a good substutite. . . Some actually increase the cravings. . . And the chemicals aren't good for you anyway. After you've been off sugar for several weeks, you can gradually add back some fruits and veggies that have a higher sugar content . . . but still, keep it in small amounts. When you feel you have the situation under control, use real maple syrup, raw

honey and natural sugars . . . even raw sugar (it's tan and brown) isn't as bad as refined sugar. Still, you have to be vigilent . . . I consider it walking a balance beam. . . I try to make that beam wide and low . . But when I fall (as I have recently with the antibiotics), it can be very difficult to climb back up. It's really the first few days that are so terribly. . .every day gets better until the cravings are gone. . . I can't tell you how many women we've seen who have had a terrible time with this issue. And . . .there's no magic pill . . . just discipline and will power. Regardless, the rewards are worth every bit of the effort it takes . . . and more! . . . Do you or any of the other ladies have any tricks to help with the sugar cravings for the three weeks it takes to kick it? Any good alternatives to maybe trick the body into thinking I am eating sweet when actually not? I am having a awful time, and though I usually have GREAT will power, this is just really tough.

Hi , what works for me is Maple Syrup. It's the only sweetener,

from what I've studied, that doesn't affect the pancreas. I take

little bits of it on a spoon and also make peanut butter balls with

it, sesame seeds, and whatever you like. I also nibble on some dried

fruit - mango and cranberries are my favorite.
