Guest guest
With en bloc, total capsulectomy is assured . . . Not vice-versa. With en bloc, the doctor will remove the capsule with the implant still inside. The idea is to prevent any contaminats from spilling into your chest cavity. It takes a doctor longer - most of them would prefer not to . . . However, Drs. Feng, Huang and Kolb will do everything possible to remove the implants en bloc. It's possible that a surgeon may draw off saline solution with a needle before doing the en bloc procedure. . . Makes sense that it would be easier. Guest guest
I think the important thing is to request it and have it in writing on your surgical form. That way your surgeon " agrees " to try to do it enbloc. Technically the theory is that it is important so that whatever has leached into the capsule does not leach into the cavity or your body. However, the truth of the matter for some is that the capsules with saline implants can be very thin and enbloc may not be something the surgeon can really do. The capsule may come off in pieces. Many surgeons have said it is like lifting off wet tissue paper. My surgeon told me that enbloc is much easier with silicone implants where the capsules are thicker and in some cases have hardened. AFter seeing mine after my surgery the other day, I agree that at least mine were very thin. I had mine in 12 years. So I got my surgeon to agree that if mine were thin that he would do his 100% best to get all the capsule out...even the capsule on the back side that might be plastered to the chest wall and any that may be on the rib cage....etc. Hope this helps.... > Thanks Rogene..I forgot who removed yours ?
