Guest guest
Yes, another email about the Prostate Cancer Petition. Yes, some of us here have been great in getting names on the Petition. But, let's face it,less than five thousand signatures collected is simply not a great showing. The politicians and funders are right. Prostate Cancer may kill 30,000 a year, but our prostate cancer survivor community simply doesn't act up in support of funding research for a cure. Well, please forgive my anger, but, I say no, no, no. I don't want to die from prostate cancer. My Dad did, but, I don't want to. I don't want my wife to cry the way my Mom did. You all must feel the same way, don't you? Look, we've got about three weeks before Father's Day. Let's more than double the number who signed the Prostate Cancer Petition. Let's go for ten thousand names. Here's two ways. Pick one or do both. You, find seven email addresses (or more) of friends, family or " frenemies " ....and email a little note about you, and prostate cancer and that they should visit http://www.prostatecancerpetition.org . And, follow up.....send a second email, a day or two later, asking if they read the petition. Second: Go to http://www.prostatecancerpetition.org and look for the PDF button towards the top of the left hand column. Print out a copy and gather signatures...at your next dinner table, at work, at your next doctors appointment, at Starbucks, at the VA......print out several copies, if you can, but, at least, commit to gathering seven or more signatures. Like it or not, our diagnosis or that of our friends and family makes us responsible --- at least minimally --- help to find a cure. We must show our faces, feet and voices. And, this Petition effort is an easy a way to show our united strength. Maybe you joined this listserv just to gather information and move on. Well, sorry, but that's just not enough. The Petition takes a minute...one minute...and your friends and family are much more eager to sign on then you might imagine. Indeed, they will likely thank you for showing how they can be involved in your care, and, even offering a way to show their love for you. Please, let's raise the Petition sign on number to 10,000 by June 15, 2008 . Feel free to forward this email. (FYI: We'll be noting the paper petition totals right after Father's Day, on the website.) And, yes, people from outside the United States may sign....just list your country where you are asked for " state. " Darryl Mitteldorf darryl@...
