Guest guest
Good Evening Ladies! I have some good news. As most of you all know around my explant time I could barely walk up my basement stairs. Now, I can see how far I have come. I live in the beautiful town of Holland, MI. We have wonderful beaches and sand dunes. In fact, I only live one mile from the shores of Lake Michigan. I have not been able to take my kids to the beach in two years because of extreme muscle weakness, pain, and fatigue. Today we went. The beach we go to is on the other side of a huge sand dune. The parks department built stairs up one side and down the other. I used to be able to climb these no problem, before I got sick. From the parking lot there are about 200 steps going up the dune and about 275 going down to the beach. In order to enjoy the beach you have to clime these. It is a nice set with lots of landings with benches for resting. Randy and I took my youngest two girls and a friend. He went ahead with the anxious girls to "ride the waves". It took me along time, but I made it all the way to the beach, where Randy had my beach chair waiting for me. After spending about an hour and a half resting from the climb, it was time to head back to the car. This reverse trip had more to climb going back up the dune. It was a slow climb, I stoppped and rested at each landing. It took me a whole hour to make it back to the car....But I did it!!! On one of the landings, I had a chance to talk with a woman who wondered why it was hard for such a young person to climb the stairs. I took this opportunity to tell her about my illness and that it was caused by saline implants. She was shocked. She said she had a friend who had silicone for 30 years with no problem. All I could say was "Good for her, I hope she knows how lucky she is." We talked for about 10 min. then it was time to finish my climb. I have to tell you ladies, I felt like I climbed Mount Everest. My hubby was so proud he called family to brag. Well, now I am in alot of pain. My legs are cramping so bad, but I don't care. People have lost toes and even their lives on Moun Everest. At least, I can suffer from pain on a little sand dune in Michigan. As far as my pain, I figure sick or not, I would have muscle cramps if I hadn't climbed those stairs in almost two years.
