Guest guest
I've done research on perscription pill options for breaking down gall stones, and found the following: Ursodiol or ursodeoxycholic acid (Actigall) and chenodiol/chenodeoxycholic acid (Chenix) are the standard oral bile acid drugs used for dissolution. THey are EXPENSIVE (like $150- 200/month). These are bile acids used to dissolve gall stones, taken daily, for 6 months to 1 year. This treatment does seem to dissolve gall stones, however 50% of people who take these get reoccuring gall stones later after treatment ends. My thought - Beta Plus by the Biotics company has ox bile extract as it's main ingredient. Would ox bile salt perform the same function? I know they are different bile salts (I would assume?) however my thought is - they might perform the same action. Haven't been able to find any comparitive studies on the perscription vs. ox bile option. Anyone have an opinion on wether Beta Plus or ox bile in general would be effective, if taken in the same time frame as perscription bile salts, in breaking down/dissolving gall stones? Thanks much - pomagranate@...

That's what you use if you don't, Beta-Plus. Beta-Plus emulsifies the fats. It does what your GB does. I have a gallbladder, so I use Beta-TCP. That stuff's been a life-saver to me. But if you use it, then there are things that you must know. It's a bile thinner. You must be 100 percent you have gallstones. You must have normal colored stools, not clay colored. There is some lady on here a while back that didn't have a GB and was using Beta-Plus, which she said worked really good. Susie
Guest guest
The Beta Plus bottle recommends taking them, " as a dietary suppliment, or as otherwise directed by a health care professional. " Unsure what your source is for the above information, however it sounds as if different sources have different opinions on this. >> _________________ Hi, : I order my Beta-TCP from a chiropractor out of Ca. Here's the information that he has on Beta-Plus: Quote: Beta-Plus - Source of organic whole beet concentrate and purified bile salts. Use with constipation, biliary insufficiency (light colored stools) or where the gall bladder has been removed and the symptoms of gall bladder dysfunction are still present (pain over the eyes, pain in the webbing between the right thumb and fore finger, pain between the shoulder blades, gas bloating, inability to tolerate fats or fried foods, etc.). unquote NOTE: it states that you had your GB removed. ________________________ Now, on Beta-TCP Quote: Beta-TCP - Source of organic whole beet concentrate and vitamin C from beet source, taurine and pancrealipase (all known to assist with cholesterol to bile acid conversion). Use with biliary stasis where there are no signs of constipation or light colored stools and the gall bladder has not been removed. Symptoms for use include - pain over the eyes, pain in the webbing between the right thumb and fore finger, pain between the shoulder blades, gas, bloating, inability to tolerate fats or fried foods, or a history of gall bladder attacks where stones were detected or suspected. UNQUOTE.... Note: you still have your GB when you use this, i.e., Beta-TCP The above quotes are from Dr. Springer's website, linked from Biotics Research. Here is how I found out about them. From Dr. Mercola's website, this is a quote and a link to this particular article: http://www.mercola.com/1999/oct/24/gallstone_treatment.htm " Anyone who has had their gallbladder removed will need to take some form of bile salts with every meal for the rest of their life (I use and recommend Beta Plus from Biotics Research), if they wish to prevent a good percentage of the good fats they eat from being flushed down the toilet. If one does not have enough fats in the diet, their entire physiology will be disrupted, especially the ability to make hormones and prostaglandins. It does what your GB does. Actually I do have a gall bladder, and my accupuncturist perscribed Beta Plus to me. I trust him - have been going to him for many years. I'm still looking for an opinion on how taking ox bile salts would compare to perscription bile salts, in dissolving gallstones. Thanks for the feedback. pomagranate@... Guest guest
Does anyone ever get sick after taking Beta Plus? I took it and got extremly sick and threw up. I am pregnant though so that could have something to do with it. Thanks! _______________ , Hi, are you taking it because you have your GB out? Everything I read and what I'm told by a health care professional is that you must have had your GB removed to take Beta-Plus. Please respond. Guest guest
I was taking the reg. beta and then she wanted me to try the beta plus. The reg. beta did just find but the beta plus didnt. >> ___________________ Hmm...I'll have to find out why they're giving Beta-Plus to people who have their GBs. The write-up says that they don't do that. I'll ask Dr. Springer. What about Beta-TCP? Have you tried that? Thanks, Susie
