Guest guest
My main source would be Chang, because I do also take her herbs a week before a cleanse, and asked her if she advised flaxseed oil with liver/gall bladder problems (she did not due to it's estrogenic nature). Hormone replacement therapy, or birth control pills are documented to cause gall bladder/liver problems. Her main website is: http://www.sensiblehealth.com/index.html if you search on " flaxseed " you'll find a paragraph mentioning estrogenic effects of the oil. I do make sure to get olive oil in daily though. Here's another site. I searched on , used the terms " estrogenic " and " flaxseed " : http://ehs.sph.berkeley.edu/msmith/id/FAQ_s/Flaxseed/body_flaxseed.htm l Good luck! pomagranate@... > pomagranate@y... writes: > > I used to take flaxseed oil, however it does have strong estrogenic > > type effects, and as such is sometimes not recommended for the > > liver. > > > Could you elaborate on this statement? Guest guest
Here's the statement at the link: " Because of my high estrogen levels, I also had to avoid foods or herbs that have estrogenic activities such as Don Quei, Licorice, Ginseng, Royal Jelly, fennel, anise, flaxseed oil, clover, red clover, evening primrose oil, etc. I avoided taking all pharmaceutical drugs because most of them are weakening or damaging to the liver or kidneys. " All of those are very beneficial substances, so I'd like to find more opinions on this matter. And what causes high estrogen levels? Are they hightened by too much plastic? I know there are estrogen problems from plastic in the environment... Flax seed oil is such a great healer, I'd hate to see people afraid of taking it. > > pomagranate@y... writes: > > > I used to take flaxseed oil, however it does have strong > estrogenic > > > type effects, and as such is sometimes not recommended for the > > > liver. > > > > > > Could you elaborate on this statement? Am I missing the boat somehow and should I take it at night " neat " ? <<< Hiya , Well, to be honest, I really didn't know the ideal time to take it, but I figured that as the flush calls for taking the olive oil right before bed, then a regular neat dose of flaxseed oil on an empty stomach before bed would also be a good thing. While it's all trial and error for me, I'm just listening to my body and following my intuition on this stuff. So, it may not be what is best for you. I tend to use olive oil to cook with, but that's because I just prefer it to the more unusual taste of flaxseed oil on food. Namaste, n

Actually I do not COOK with flaxseed oil, and I, like you, use extra-virgin olive oil since flax cannot take heat. What I do is pour the flaxseed oil over my lunch (soon switching to avocado thanks to you, madam) which normally consists of a sweet potato (high mineral content), lentils or winter squash plus some sort of green vegetable, whatever I find in the frig. I warm the selection du jour in the oven and then pour flax oil and toasted pumpkin seed oil (beautiful color, deep dark green; good flavor and good for breast health and EFA) over the lot on my plate. I shall consider the idea of a dose at night before bed, but I am busy then with Curcuma or Coptis and magnesium so I will have to figure out the order of supplements. Maybe Dale or Vince can chime in since I am well over my head now on figuring out how to coordinate all these potions. Thank you again,

I sometimes feel that way, too, just feeling my way around in the dark. So far - so good, by just going with my instincts and listening to my body. Although, I've noticed I'm getting the ol' bloated feeling after eating my evening meal again, so I'm just walking for an hour on my tredmill. That seems to sort out that, though probably time for another flush session. I'm also going to really take a good look at the enzyme info Carol kindly sent us. I have a bit of trouble working through all the technical terms in some of these writings, so even researching can be mind-boggling. Thanks for all the soy info, too. All the conflicting theories really complicate things, don't you find? I eat so little meat, now...basically because I really don't enjoy it...so when my chiro suggested soy, I thought it would be a good protein replacement. Even fish has so many warnings attached to it with mercury levels. Maybe I should just replace the soy with a protein shake supplement that is soy-less? What do you do? I've cut back on so many things, these days, it's really becoming a pain wondering what to cook up for the family! LOL >>>I warm the selection du jour in the oven...<<< This really tickled me! )) Thanks for the smile! Hey - this may sound like a real dumb question, but does anyone have trouble with the support wires in their bras causing pressure on their GB area? Sorry guys, but this is a real pain in the ribs, right now. Any suggestions for hoiking those mammies up without having to apply to The Swan for a lift job would be greatly appreciated! On that note... Blessings, n
Guest guest
Hi , I'm with n, and just do what fits my schedule and seems like it may work. My supplements along with my olive oil, flax oil, and borage oil are in the morning. I also often chew up a teaspoon of raw flax seed and a teaspoon of raw milk thistle seed. If I feel like another dose in the evening, I take another then. It true that the flush, which I use, calls for the oil at night. This coincides with the peak activity of the liver and gallbladder which is at night. There have also been many who have taken a second dose of oil and grapefruit juice the next morning and gotten more flush results. The evening may be better for taking extra oil, but we eat all day and use the nutrients. My theory is that there are probably optimum times to take all this stuff, but taking it at all should be a lot better than not taking it. If time permitted, it would be interesting to research timing in addition to what foods/supplements can benefit us Vince > In a message dated 5/22/2004 11:57:07 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > momazmat@c... writes: > > > > I tend to use olive oil to cook with, but that's because I just prefer it > > to the > > more unusual taste of flaxseed oil on food. > > > > n: > > Thank you so much for the reply. Guest guest
A-HA, perhaps that is the reason for the 3 A M awakenings I have with pain in gallbladder area.
