Guest guest
Walking in a mall can help those who have problems with heat . . Some malls open early for walkers . .. there are even walking clubs where people get together to walk and encourage each other. I've use the stairs in our house for exercise . . . going up and down as many times asI comfortably can. I feel like an idiot doing it, but it works! Guest guest
Hey, Rogene -- don't feel silly at all. When was training for a marathon, there was a week or so that was sick and he couldn't get to his indoor track. They lived in a 3-bedroom apt. at the time. I remember him running from the farthest bedroom up the hallway, then around the livingroom...before you knew it, all the kids were following him and it became a family affair!! lol Sunny > > Walking in a mall can help those who have problems with heat . . Guest guest
, I can't remember where I got the info . .. book? radio? TV? . . . but there was a study where they deprived people of sleep to see what would happen . . . All of them developed symptoms of fibromyalgia . .. However, when most of the subjects caught up on their sleep, the symptoms went away. For an unfortunate few, the symtoms remained. . . . IMHO, this would indicate a genetic factor. Keep in mind that FM is not a disease! . . . It's Syndrome. A syndrome is a collection of symptoms with enough in common to be given a name. There appear to be a number of triggers for FM . . . an accident, a stressor, etc. . . what these triggers have in common is the tendency for someone under going them, to be sleep deprived. . . A sleep disorder (inability to sleep deeply) goes hand-in-glove with FM. . . There are some good books on FM . . .. Speaking for myself, I've learned how to manage it. The neurologist who dx'd me put me on the right road . .. His wife and daughter both had FM - so he knew firsthand what it was like. His patients formed a support group in Dallas. . . He said to avoid support groups where all they do is compare symptoms. . . You want to be surrounded by people who are looking for ways to overcome, not wallow in, their problems. His first recommendation was regular deep massage therapy . . . he gave me a prescription for sleep . . . told me to keep moving, but not to overdo exercise . . . to stretch . . . to eat healthy . .. to manage stress and anger . . . and one that I totally fail on - to go to bed by 10:00 p.m. - because the body gets it's most restorative rest before midnight.
