Hi

And welcome to our support site. I am glad to hear that you have

had very little problem with illness due to your implants. As you

have probably read, many women here have been quite ill from implant

caused autoimmune disease. I agree with what you have written. I

went to Dr. Feng and she is highly recommended as someone who will

do a good job and also beleives that implants can cause illness.

However, I am not sure that you will be able to make one trip. She

often has a waiting list, I got into to see her within weeks of

calling her, and then was scheduled for surgery three weeks later.

It may be possible however, if you are sure you want your surgery

done to make your appts. back to back. I went through surgery real

well and I had surgery on a wednesday and went home on friday. It

really depends on how fast your drains stop filling with blood. I

was able to work the next week but I was doing a part time job.

Again, everyone is different. If you don't do any lifting and don't

have any complications or alot of pain, you might be able to go back

to work the following monday. Some women however, do have pain or

more drainage, it all depends. Yes, Dr. Feng will give you a good

idea of what size she thinks you will be. I would say the majority

of women are close to the size they were before implants. Some are

larger, especially if they were young and not fully developed when

they got implants. Some might be slightly smaller. I was very flat

and am pretty much the same size now that I am explanted. Dr. Feng

should let you know if she thinks you would need a lift. Since you

have had the implants for some time, your tissue will be very

compressed and you will look flatter at first. It takes weeks to

months for the tissue to expand again so that your final size and

shape will be revealed.

I know what you mean about always feeling weird edges with your

implants and feeling scared something is wrong. I always felt that.

Most often it was the tab on the implant. Also, my implants always

bothered me in one way or another and though I liked

having " breasts " I never liked the way I felt with them physically.

Hopefully someone else will give you a good idea on costs. I had

mine out almost five years ago and there are many here who had them

out recently and would have a better idea. Good luck to you!

Hugs, Kathy

Welcome ,It appears you already know how important it is to have your implants removed properly . . . so I won't go into that. . . However, the must be a medical need for BCBS to pay . . . Dr. Feng's office can tell you if you meet those conditions. The one that comes to mind is grade IV capsular contraction . . . Recovery can be rather individual. However, the surgery is usually easier than implanting. . . The biggest question is how long you will have your drains in . . . Usually it's just a few days, but we had one women recently who drained for weeks! She had a lot of infection going on though. If you're considering a new job, if it was me, I'd try to schedule the surgery, and allow a few weeks for recovery before your start date. Dr. Feng will see to it that you look as good as possible . . . Any doctor who claims a woman will be deformed is speaking of his/her own skills!Hugs and

prayers,Rogene

Hi ,

It's such a recurring theme among plastic surgeons - " if you remove

them without re-implanting, you'll be disfigured " . I can't tell you

how many women have posted reporting that their plastic surgeon told

them that!! Sometimes I seriously wonder if this is to keep the

cycle going to guarantee repeat business, or if they are truly not

qualified. I only had my implants for six months. Aside from

hating them, and trying to hide my big fake boobs, I got really sick

from them, and I'm 8 months post-explant and still trying to get my

health back.

I had my explant done by Dr. Feng in November. She did a fantastic

job on me, and I look very close to how I looked before getting

implants. My pictures are posted, if you'd like to see them. Just

go to the blue menu at the top left of this page, and click

on " links " . Keep clicking on links until you're asked for a signon,

and that signon is " implants " . Dr. Feng schedules your surgery so

that you can have your consult the day before surgery (if you're

traveling from out of town), and then you stay in a hotel (there are

alot of nice places to stay in Beachwood, which is only about 2

miles from her office). She will make sure you are properly

explanted, and she can tell you if she thinks you'll need a lift (I

didn't need a lift). You'll stay nearby until the output of the

drains is below a certain level. Some only have to stay for 2 or 3

days, some have to stay longer. I stayed 5 days, and then I drove

myself home to New Jersey!! The explant for me was much less

painful than implant, and I was back on my feet quickly.

, you are definitely moving in the right direction! I have

been implanted for 20 yrs. and am sicker than an old dog, and worse!

Mine are saline outer/silicone soup inner...deadly, they are. My

immune system is shot - I am having surgery on July 26 to explant.

YAY!!!! I live in Canada and have coverage, thank God. The ladies

on this site have been so supportive and loving. Welcome, and hang

around with us!!

Sis,

Since you just had your explantation in November - can you tell me

how much it cost? I'm just trying to get a ballpark of an idea.

All of this information is fantastic - I feel so much better already.

I also feel really lucky - it's so sad to hear so many of you that

are so sick. My mom has implants too, I'm hoping to talking her into

having them out. I at least want her to know how dangerous they can

be.

Tks!

Explantation varies by area and doctor. From $7000 to $5000 if done properly.

Hi ,

I'm having my implants taken out next week by Dr. Feng. The same

Dr. that Sis used. I did a lot of research on different Drs before

making a choice and it's so important to use the right one. All the

ones I spoke with besides Dr. Feng and Dr. Kolb make you feel like

your imlplants have nothing to do with whats wrong with you. I

didn't trust any of them to do the operation correct and figured if

I'm doing it I want it done right. Dr. Feng charges $6000 for

explant and $11000 if you need a lift too. This site is excellent

and you will find tons of information and support here.

Hi kiddo, My explant surgery was 3030.00 by Gordon. I had capsular contraction on right side for 18 tears so he had to do capsulectoemy. He is in Las Vegas but he did a wonderful job. I had drains in for about 2 weeks. I feel so much better they have been out for 1 year in August, Good luck , Terrilissaclayrn <michelleclayrn@...> wrote: Sis,Since you just had your explantation in November - can you tell me how much it cost? Sis,

Tks! I was afraid you were going to say $15K! I just found out

yesterday that the start of my new job is going to be delayed - to

some time in August. Soo - I'm going to call Dr. Feng's office

Monday and if there's any way possible I'm going to have the surgery

before I start my new job. Wish me luck!
