Guest guest
well - I am not sure... of course i am not a doctor so she could very ell be right... one thing to consider here.... please don't think I am being negative but there is a consideration - I do think that if it will speed healing or make her job easier then it may very well be a good idea... now I had a complete deflation early into my implantation, before I realized my implants were making me ill - it happened of a Sunday... I had to wait until Thursday to get it replaced.... did she bring up how it would feel to walk around w/ deflated implants inside you for a few weeks?.... I personally thought it was pretty weird and a little gross feeling.... now - I had to work for several days like that and it was a little strange as my implant was folded up and rolling around in there.... of course maybe it was stranger and weirder for me as I had one in and one busted.. maybe that was why I didn't like it... I am not sure - it has been 7 years since this happened... the only other thing that comes to mind is what Rogene mentioned... leaking fluid from the spot she drains them - if by chance your fluid is contaminated and they are not leaking already when she pokes a hole in the implant, some fluid may get out and into your system - i would ask her about this - it may just be a slim possibility and your situation may be different - you may not have had yours long enough,etc... I can not remember you exact story... Just a few things I can think of to ask your doctor about - other than these I really cannot think of any other things to ask her about... if neither of these is an issue, then maybe it is a good idea - I have never thought of this before... are your implants large - do you remember the bag sizes? if they are then maybe this is a good idea to help tissues heal and avoid a lift... I had smaller implants so I didn't get a lift but I know it has been an issue with some... maybe this doctor has found this to be a way around it?? I am not sure but I would ask her about these few issues... just my opinions, of course.... good luck! shari
Guest guest
I sure hope they are using local at least.... after my explant I had a massive fluid build up as I didn't have drains and my ps had to go in w/ a needle and syringe several times to "manually"drain over 80cc's of fluid out - no anesthesia.... not a very fun procedure in my opinion... also a good probability of why I have an infection and fluid build up now according to my appt on last Friday.... shari
Guest guest
. .. My only concern would be leakage from being stuck to drain the implants. . . I'd ask the doctor about that. Healing-wise, there's nothing to heal other than the needle stick. The tissue should start shrinking back to their natural contour. Maybe the PS feels it's easier to work with the tissue in that condition. Doing it this way doesn't set off any alarms as far as I'm concerned - if the ps can address the possibility of leakage. Guest guest
This is the very first time I have heard of this technique. I wonder what Feng or Kolb would say about it? Anyone want to submit it by email to them and find out? I am not questioning this doctor at all, just wondering why nobody else ever uses this procedure. I have to wonder about possible infection with the drainage. A needle poking into the breast doesn't sound fun at all! (I am assuming that it is done in office with only local anesthesia?) PattyEmerald Kittee <emeraldkittee@...> wrote: hi Shari and Rogene,The ps clarified that she likes to do this 2-4 wks prior to the surgery - that way the tissue has already shrunk and you are just dealing with the rest of the internal healing (I am majorly paraphrasing here) She said she has done this for the "few" women who want them out with no reimplantation. This is interesting. She also thinks I could take a Friday off and be back at work (hiding drains under a blazer?) on the Monday. I would take more time off than that, and wouldn't / couldn't show up with drains anyhow. So, it sounds like getting them deflated wks prior may speed up the healing of the actual surgery. >> Wednesday as in the day before the surgery or as in several weeks before? Guest guest
. .. The thought just crossed my mind that perhaps she deflates them so her patients can see if they can deal with their "deflated" form. . . . I don't like that thought! Please concentrate on the positives. . . Seriously, YOU are more concerned about how YOU look than anyone else. . . You could just be upfront about what's going on and give the guys an opportunity to tell you about girlfriends, wives, sisters, and mothers who are sick too . . . Or, you can go to 's Secret and get fitted with a bra so nobody will know the difference! . . . I hope you can be upfront about it all! . .. One of the reasons this garbage has gone on for so long is that we've always felt we needed to keep our mistake to ourselves. And I wondered about the fluid too - can't imagine how all that feels - ouch - and if they numb the spot or what. I knew she mentioned drains for the surgery, but that must be for the fluids accumlated during that process? She stressed that psychologically, it is an advantage to do this prior to the surgery too. I don't know the bag size - I went from an A to a full C, so...not sure how that will work. Apparently, this is how she recommends it for those not getting reimplanted.I also want to know if I can wear one of those add a cup bras after deflating and after surgery. There is no way I can go to work suddenly flat chested - I am not up for dealing with that, when the whole office is 20 something macho guys - those stares would be worse than the ones I get now! I plan on trying to be a B for a bit, so I can heal my own psyche and not worrying about who is noticing what or cracking rude comments. >> well - > > I am not sure... of course i am not a doctor so she could very ell be > right... one thing to consider here.... please don't think I am being negative but > there is a consideration - I do think that if it will speed healing or make > her job easier then it may very well be a good idea...> > now I had a complete deflation early into my implantation, before I realized > my implants were making me ill - it happened of a Sunday... Guest guest
emerald I worked in an all male business before I got too ill - I was an applications Engineer and sold Air compressors and helped design systems, etc... all my customers were mainly male - all out service techs were male and all my outside sales were male.... I went from an AA to a C and had them before I worked with this company- I had worked for a competitor when I had my surgery.... there were a lot of the types you are talking about that I am VERY familiar with... problem was - at least on my case - after the removal I knew I was gonna be small and I never wore a lot of blazers and baggy clothes before as we are in Florida so I just didn't tell all the guys but I didn't try to hide it either... I knew they would figure out something was different eventually as there were a lot of pigs making comments to me all the time... it would be impossible unless I was going to wear high shirts and water bras or stuffed bras daily.. plus after my surgery at least I has to wear a sports bra for a while... I am not sure about everyone else but I had to do this for a few week - during this time I did try to hide it as this flattens you out but then I bought good, padded bras, and went about my business and let them think what they wanted... I was soooo happy to have those toxic bags out - I could have cared less what they thought or said - I think a lot of the girls end up so relieved to finally have the nasty things out - I personally was happy to have my small breasts again... just to know that part of the danger was gone. when they said crap to me - I personally didn't care and told them either it was none of their business or told them if i thought it may help a family member but if it bothers you - tell your boss...the only thing I did have helping me there was that my husband worked there as well and a lot of the younger guys were scared of him so they never made comments when he was around or that they thought would get back to him...of course some did Boys will be boys - not much can be done there - they really can't say much or you could smack them w/ a sexual harassment thing if you want... If you are worried about the - get some really good padded bras... loose layers... then ignore them for a while - if they are anything like what I worked with- just ignore them... threaten them if you have to - we do not have to take that crap anymore... I was sure they eventually knew something was up... probably knew for sure after I got sick and had to leave but it really was not their business.... I wish you the best - I remember this crap - I went thru it and it was not fun.... sorry you are dealing w/ the stupid male thing...you really don't need it right now... shari
