I think that the only reason a referral would be needed is to get insurance to pay for it. I think (I could be wrong here) that you can schedule one if you are willing to pay for it yourself. Guest guest
Yes you can. You can go to a radiologist center and pay for one. Even colleges my do a 'ginny-pig' check for you. If you don't want to pay, and you want insurance to cover it, you would need a doctors referral. To get a refferal you need to pay for a consultation. ;-) > <<<<<<My regular M.D. is no fan of alternative medicine, but I would need > his referral to get a sonogram for gallstone observation. Guest guest
They wouldn't let me do it with out a doctor's prescription. It may be that in certain areas of this country there is the possibility that you could get a sonogram or some other diagnostic done with out a doctor's intervention. ??? Thank Barry. Doctors have an obscene monopoly over our health care. If there is one arena where we have no freedom of choice whatsoever.....it's our healthcare! Is this not Constitutional? Guest guest
Yes Dale, it sounds kind of like 'Communism' to me. Do you have only one radiologist in your town? I live near a college and have dozens of centers. I just need to go in and pay for one and I get to keep the pictures too. They don't care who pays for it. As long as you have the money they will lube up your stomache and take pictures for you. :-) If you have to get a doctors referral, they can also be 'bribed' if you explain why you want it. If he won't refer you I'd get another doctor to write up one for you. God Bless America.
