Bravo to Dawn! article and link below to British women study: Love to all from Ilena www.BreastImplantAwareness.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: susan cox < scox@...> Mailed-By: etex.net Ilena Rose ilena.rose@... Ilena, I wrote you over a year ago in Feb. about my ruptured implants. They were removed by Dr. Melmed in Dallas, TX late March. Nearly ALL my ill symptoms have gone away! Now I am only barely considering reconstructive surgery using the DIEP method by Dr. Duffey in Dallas. I've had bi-lateeral mastectomy 20

years ago and now left with lose skin and wearing prosthesis which I don't find all that objectionable. Does anyone out there know about the DIEP method and have you been through it? thanks-susan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: Beth toxicbreastimplants@... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=395223 & in_page_id=1879 Ladies, Please add your comments. British women's breasts are getting biggerBy LIZ HULL, Daily Mail 22:28pm 11th July 2006 British women's breasts are getting bigger with sales of large bra sizes tripling over the last three years. New figures show there has been a 30 per cent increase in demand for bras with cup sizes of DD and above since 2003. According to lingerie firm La Senza the average bra size in the UK is 36C, whereas 10 years ago most women had a smaller, 34B chest. Have you had or are you considering breast implants? Have your say in reader comments below Experts say the boom in bust size can be explained by the dramatic rise in the

number of women opting for cosmetic surgery implants. A general change in women's body shapes, which has seen a move towards the fuller figure, is also behind the increased bust-lines. Last night Hancock, secretary of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), said: "Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic operations. We are doing more and more of these operations each year. More girls with bigger breasts could be accounting for this rise in demand for larger bra sizes." The research, conducted by La Senza, revealed that sales of bras with DD, E and F cup sizes across their 118 stores nationwide have risen by a third year on year since 2003. In contrast, bras with cup sizes A to D have gone up by just eight per cent.

"We have definitely seen an increase in demand in bras for women with a cup size of DD or more," Bond, from La Senza said. "It may be due to the fact that women now have fuller and more curvy figures or because more women are having breast implants." Figures published earlier this year revealed that the number of women having surgery to boost the size of their breasts has increased by more than 50 per cent in just 12 months. An audit by BAAPS showed that its members carried out a total of 5,655 breast enlargement operations last year, almost 2,000 more than in 2004. Women's body shapes have also changed, with

waist and bust-lines expanding by 6.5ins and 1.5ins, respectively, since the 1950s. Mr Hancock, a consultant plastic surgeon in Liverpool, added: "Most of my patients who come in for breast augmentation want to go up a couple of sizes, from an A to a C cup, or a B to a D cup - they have a morbid fear of looking like someone like Jordan. "However, there are obviously girls who, for what ever reasons, want to be much bigger and will need these bigger bra sizes." Ceril , an image consultant and stylist who has worked with TV presenter Cat Deeley and tennis stars Kournikova and Serena , said more younger women were having cosmetic surgery in a bid to look like their favourite celebrities. "It is not just older women who are turning to cosmetic surgery in an attempt to hold back the tide of time, these days younger women are doing it to look like the celebrities they want to emulate," she said. "Whereas before many women didn't wear the correct size bra, more and more are now getting properly fitted. Women are surprised how different their actual size is and normally find they go up a cup size which could also be a reason for the surge in bigger bras." Marcelle D'Argy , former editor of Cosmopolitan, said she believed more women were going for breast surgery because it was an instant way of attracting the opposite sex. "If you do not look like

Kate Moss and do not have model proportions then breast enlargement is the best way of getting male attention quickly," she said. "It is achievable, like dying your hair blonde. It is more difficult to get legs like Elle Macpherson. They do not do long legs."
