I had the Benelli lift that Melmed does-- he does a really good job and I'm totally happy with the results. My breasts look very natural. There are scars around the aerola but they are faded now and not very noticeable. I look even better than I did before getting implants (I was droopy after nursing three babies).

The t-lift or lollipop lift leaves a scar around the aerola and also leaves a vertical scar from the aerola to the crease. Some surgeons think the results are better-- it's a matter of opinion. I think the t-lift is easier if the surgeon hasn't done a lot of lifts.

If your implants are larger and your skin stretched a lot (like mine) it's worth it to get a lift-- it will lift your spirits! :) Your surgeon can decide if you need one.

Explant asside, I have consulted about lifts before, and was told that a full lift (t-lift, anchor lift, etc) is for worse cases than a Benelli (donut) lift. In fact, some surgeons call a Benelli lift a "mini-mastoplexy."

The PS's I have seen told me that if I replaced my implants with a size or so bigger, that I could get by with a Benelli lift. When I've consulted about a lift with the same implants, or with removal, I've always been referred to a full lift.

One of the PS that I saw about replacement with a lift trained with the inventor of the 'laser bra' (s in CA), and is one of the few handfuls of surgeons who can do the laser bra... and the namesake of his practice was voted one of the top listed PS in the country.

So not to be contradictive to anyone, but I really don't think it's always a matter of the surgeon's skill, but rather each individual case. I think it just depends on how much skin you have, how much breast tissue you have, how wide your rib cage is (mine is VERY wide), how wide your breasts are (mine are VERY wide/round at the base), and also how good your skin is (I have terrible stretched out skin). I would think the location of your existing areola and the skin above it could also be a factor. (I saw this because there was a limit on how high docs could get my areola doing a Benelli... it wouldn't have raised them much.)

A Benelli is USUALLY cheaper than a full lift.

The best thing to do is to consult and ask the doctor what he or she thinks regarding your particular case. Obviously, if you can get by with a Benelli lift -that would be wonderful, because there are less scars. Personally, I'd rather have more scars if it resulted in a better/higher lift.

My implants were placed (and exchanged) twice through a crease under my breasts, so I already have a scar there. Doing a full lift would just add one more vertically anyway from the Benelli.

Good luck what ever you choose!!!

I had a lift upon explant, and mine was done before the lollipop lift was popular. I had the anchor lift, which leaves more scarring. A good explanting surgeon will be able to leave you with only the vertical scar and the donut around the aerola. Be sure you find a doctor who will do it at the

same time, as two surgeries 6 months apart are sooooo very hard on your system.
