I am almost immobile after the sessions but I push myself to go back the next day. Have you explained to the therapist how badly your pain is increased? Mine have always told me, whether working on my neck, knees or shoulder, that the pain increase should be back to baseline in two hours or we're doing too much. I've also never had back to back therapy days like you do, always having at least one to only deal with the at home exercises they give me. If your therapist doesn't listen, ask for a new one. Or, talk to the doctor that referred you. I once had an inflammatory arthritis problem in my knee, but the doctor wrote " get it moving " so the therapist didn't have any idea what the problem was and really put me through the ringer until I spoke up. Good luck! Having the strength restored to your leg will be a great thing. in Oregon
Guest guest
Kaylene-the warm heat is very soothing, thank you. Yes, I did tell the therapist how much pain I was in. She tells me it is muscle spasms. She knows I push myself and it is extremely rare that I tell her to stop. The TENS is great but I think many learn how to pace themselves. The pain journal helps with that. It is common for patients to want to please their healthcare providers. Complaining about pain is difficult: I do not want to be perceived as whining, I should handle it, they won't like me if they know I still have pain. The psychological aspects of pain are troubling...and they never taught me about it in medical school. I may have to stay on gentle exercises for awhile but we know we are not hurting other areas. PLEASE TELL HER> Bennie
