As one who has been there, done that, I would strongly urge your husband to

swallow his pride and get the walker before he take a nasty fall and injures

himself. The kind with the brakes, basket, and seat are so versatile and allow

you so much flexibility in and out of the house, not to mention stability and

confidence.

Mine has a tray which allows me to carry anything that fits on it--I would be

lost without it.Once he gets one,he'll wonder how he got along without it!!

The problem of stability is the important thing--you can go up and down curbs'

ramps(the brakes are great),or even go up 2 steps, once you learn how.

Anyway,as the saying goes " pride goeth before the fall " --I know that's corny

but true.I was lucky in my falls and never injured myself seriously but I

have a friend who had Parkinsons, wouldn't get a walker, fell and seriously

tore muscles in his legs and is now in a wheelchair. It convinced me!

Well, good luck to your husband--I hope he gets one soon and enjoys using it

as much as I have.

All the best to you both.........Ed

To Ed Ames & Trish(Tom) AND ALL PLS pals.

Done that been there and not proud of it. This is why I coined PLS the

falling disease. I would be walking with a walker today (I swear, at least I

believe I would be) had it not been for a catrophic fall. Thats why my

mission (one of them, probably the most important) is to preach carefulness

to fellow PLS'ers.

Ps My (one of many), the one that did me in was from a simple slow walking

position in the bathroim. What could have prevented it? ANSWER GRAB BARS ALL

THE WAY OUT OF THE BATHROOM.
