Alison, Isn't weird how our bodies react. The drug insert on oxycontin says nothing about weight gain and it only says increased appetite and edema. It also says: Opioid analgesics, including OxyContin®, may enhance the neuromuscular blocking action of skeletal muscle relaxants and produce an increased degree of respiratory depression. So in fact, it does help some nuero problems and does help my problems in nerve pain. I also forget that many of our problems cause an inflammatory reaction and I sometimes take Motrin with my meds under my doctors care. It also carries its own set of problems but help when I over do it. The generic for Neurotin was so much cheaper for me and I called around and Sams club does have it cheap. It has the generic neurotin as part of their four dollar prescription program. You can go online and see the drugs that are listed. The prescription Motrin is actually cheaper than buying it over the counter and they expand the list often. CVS has also initiated a program but it is just a discounted one. I check these out often because my co-pay for some of my meds can be 22.00 but are normally a three dollar co-pay. This is the military program and if I go by mail in, I can get a 90 supply for 9.00. I consider myself fortunate with this program. As for weight gain in Lyrica, it doesn't just drop right off and I am concerned about that. The Lyrica weight can is a cross between edema and actually fat accumulation. I think the chemical composition does something with the metabolism process of the gastrointestial or endocrine system. I have to read that part of the inserts of the chemical composition and delivery several times. Well, I hope you find a cheaper way. Are there Walmarts in Australia and do they have this program I am sorry that may sound like a stupid question, but I don't know. Our body is a strange machine and it is amazing how so many things effect it. I research extensively and sometimes it gets so confusing of what works and what does not. I am now trying to get my nutritional support figured out because I have vitamin defiiciencies and just taking my vitamins does not work. I had thyroid surgery and had Hashimotos, and autoimmune disorder, and it reeked havoc on my pain management. Taking enough Vitamin D does effect pain control and there are many research articles out there that prove it. The doctors told me that hashimotos is an immune response where it attacks the thyroid and when we take the thyroid out, it will get better. My question is, when we take it out, won't the immune response just move some where else and attack something else. I beleive that is what has happened and the next time I go to my endocrinologist, I will demand an answer. I have a poor endocrinologist, I have never seen her but I see the PA of the day and they all are young and all have a different opinion so this is a new challenge to find a good endocrinologist or internal medicine doctor. Well, hope everyones medicine treats them well. If I could only find a medication that causes you lose weight while you take it. No, Topamax didn't even cause me to lose weight.
