Guest guest
I found this group today and I already feel better. It's so good to know that there is a network of support and great information. I had my implants (Saline, approximately 240cc) implanted in 1991 when I was 19. I was very flat chested, my mom had been implanted, and I had the money to do it. I was thrilled. I haven't had nearly the problems that I've heard can be associated with implants but I definitely want them removed. My right breast dimples in slightly at the nipple. I have a small amount of pain in both of them and on and off tenderness. One of my big issues is that when I do my monthly breast exams I can always find something that just doesn't " feel " right. I pretty much panic almost every month. So far I've been to see two plasic surgeons about explantation. They both have told me that they don't really know how long implants will last and there's no reason to remove them until there's really a problem. They also both said that unless I put implants back in I will be totally disfigured. I've done too much research already to know that this doesn't have to be the case. Now I need some input on how exactly to proceed and I have a few questions. How long would I need to take off of work? I'm fixing to start a new job (I'm an RN). It requires a lot of walking but not a lot of lifting. How many visits would I need to make to the PS? There aren't any near my home (in KY) who are experienced in explantation. I'm strongly considering Dr. Lu-Feng but she is about 10 hours away. I'd really like to make one trip, meet her, have surgery the next day, stay a few days and then travel back. Do you think that would be possible? Will the PS be able to give me a ball park as to what my size might be after I'm explanted? I have BCBS insurance. I assume that there's no way they will pay for it? Am I right about that? What is the approximate cost for the procedure? Any other info as to how I need to start planning for this would be greatly appreciated. I can't hardly wait! Tks,
