Guest guest
>>>Organic eggs, good or bad? Well good obviously, much better than battery eggs, thats for certain, but sadly and I know this is hard to believe but many organic chickens although beign fed organic food are not being fed the correct diet for chickens. Corn is not true chicken food and eventually when we are more well most if us seek out organic eggs that do not come from corn fed source Also note that chickens are omnivorous -- a strictly vegetarian diet is NOT species appropriate. The healthiest chickens produce the healthiest eggs, and that means they're allowed a species appropriate diet. >>>>Organic beef, good or bad, LOL, good yes, compared to non-organic fed beef, but sadly even some organically fed cows are not being fed the correct food, if they are fed with grains then their beef is not of great quality, as time goes by most of us try to seek out grass fed beef Specifically, grass-fed is best, but some small amounts of grains are not unhealthy because grain is the natural product of grasses and various mixed forage. Some ten years ago at a farm conference, I attended a workshop led by a retired ag professor and lifelong farmer whose continuing research involved the specific feeds for cattle and the end effects in the nutrients of the meat. His research at that point, indicated that cattle could eat up to two pounds of grain per day before the Omega 3 & 6 ratio shifted from the optimum level of grass-feed beef. For farmers, this is good news because a small amount of grain serves as a treat that aids greatly in management, which I can attest to personally from experience on my own farm. It's also useful in keeping a cow who's a heavy milker in proper condition -- while grass-only dairying is ideal, the reality is that most milking stock today is the result of selection for different traits, and it's unforgiveable to let an animal fall into poor condition while serving an ideal.
