Guest guest
The gummi implants have no real difference than the original Dow implants of the late 60's, which had much thicker, cohesive gel. They, too, caused problems, only many women had them longer before problems occurred. If you are sensitive to silicone, the same problems we hear daily will occur. If you are not that sensitive immediately, it will be the longer range set of problems that develop slowly. Guest guest
Righto Lynda ... here are some earlier versions from Dr. Middleton's research: Cavon " Cast Gel " implants: " Dr. ph F. Cavon designed a breast implant with no shell and very cohesive gel which was avaliable from Uphoff, and then Aesthetech, from about 1980 to 1985, very few were ever placed. " " Cavon implant, showing the distinctive " elephant-skin " appearance of these implantsat time of removal. This implant had no shell, and hence no back patch. The gel was of increased cohesiveness compared to most implants. " http://radiographics.rsnajnls.org/cgi/content/full/20/3/e1 Cavon JF. Cast gel implantable prosthesis. U.S. patent 4,470,160, 1984. Guest guest
Dawn, First . . I can't imagine a doctor using the gummy bear implants - without telling a woman that she would have to consent to being part of a study . . . another guinea pig! . .. Gummy bears haven't been approved for marketing! . . . He could lose his license! If he planned to tell her that, when was he going to do it? . . When she was anesthetized for surgery? Secondly, if a doctor can make a woman look wonderful with a lift after having breast implants, this doctor must not be very skilled if he doesn't have the ability to make her look great if she has any tissue at all! I pray your friend will decide that there are more important things to do with her life! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Hey Dawn, What happened with this? Did you get your info? (Sorry this seems so late...I'm trying to catch up on posts!) She told me she is getting a lift with gummiimplants in a few months, but she is smart, and is rightly concernedabout my explant, and is now asking a few questions.I would like to help her info gather. Her surgeon told her that there is no way to do a lift withoutimplants, as she has a lot of extra skin and ptosis. She is a C cupand wants to remain that. The surgeon said she would if she got asmall gummi implant. Anyone have any good links about gummi implants? Those things FREAKME OUT. I remember Dr. Melmed showing us on a mirror how that greasysilicone rubbed off when you roll an implant around on it. I am surethat crud comes off in the body. When we got home, my husband did iton a mirror with my silicome shell saline implant and it did the samething. I can't imagine a gummy would be any different. As well, anyone have links to surgeons who have pics showing goodresults of a lifts with NO implants? To me this woman has a lot of great breast tissue to work with-- Ican't imagine needing an implant to get a good result.Dawn Talk is cheap.
