Kate I'm sure someone else knows more on this than I, but just a thought... The brain can regenerate over time after the autoimmune deterioration response of meth use ---once it's stopped. For those of you who aren't familiar with that... Meth not only eats away at the brain, but it teaches the brain to attack its own tissue -much like autoimmune diseases. The damage is visible upon MRI and CT scans, and equally so --- the regeneration is also visible. If the brain can regenerate itself after something as horrible as meth use, I'd think that means we should have good reason to hope it can regenerate after this silicone ordeal (which is equally as horrible in a different way) if we can rid our bodies of these horrible toxins. I may be way off base, but it just seems to me it would work the same way. If we can detox this stuff out of our system, with time, maybe our brains will repair! GREAT question... I'm anxious to see all responses! Brigite
Guest guest
I forgot to say in my post about HAs--there's the cognitive part too which is usually a problem, a symptom for us implanted women, I've had neuro-psychological testing twice in the 13 years post-explant. The first showed definite cognitive difficulties, and even my IQ had gone down some. This along with one of those 'wait and see' brain MRIs with excess white patchiness for age or something of the sort, had me worried. Follow-up testing and MRIs haven't shown any real changes. So, I feel quite relieved. I have headaches of all types and varieties--don't forget the ones that come as side effects of medication! I try not to spend time worrying when it won't help. I see my neurologist as necessary, but at least once a year.
