No. Don't do the Fat Fast. The FF is NOT supposed to be used this way. It is supposed to be used to get you into ketosis. That is its purpose.

If you *do* decide to do the fat fast, remember that after you get finished, you might very well gain some weight back due to the fact that you have just told your body that it is going into a "famine" so to speak, and when you start back eating "on plan" it will think that it should hold on to smoe of that good food.

I think you should just forget the FF and just start with the 2 weeks of strict induction. After all, this is your woe for life. There really isn't a short cut. You might as well just "bite the bullet" and follow the book.

Of course this is my opinion, and I only have the experience of what I have heard, and DANDR to go on. Arlene Longo wrote:

I am just now finishing my second week of induction. I regained 6 of the 7 pounds lost the first week. I know it is all my fault, because I keep binging on low carb treats to the point that the carb point was very high. I want to go on the FAT FAST diet, do you think I should do induction again first or go ahead with my plans. I kind of got screwed up yesterday when I was at my mom's and grabbed a gold can of what I thought was diet coke and only when I finished it realized it was regular. So today I have been having cravings. I think the FAT FAST is the way to go, but I might need to do induction to get to the point again of not craving the carbs. Maybe like a week of induction then the FAST, what do the pros think I should do. Please answer as I will be starting this in the morning.

The fat fast is for folks who are metabolically resistant, not to lose

quicker. Since you lost 7 lbs the first week, I doubt you would be

considered metabolically resistant. Also, since most of that 7 lbs was

retained water, it should come off again, if you do induction. Also, since

the fat fast is SO restrictive, you will be more likely to cheat.

Also, treats are not recommended during induction. Even LC jello/whipped

cream should not be a daily treat.

Arlene:

No, I don't think you should do the fat fast. The fat fast is designed to

be something that people who have severe metabolic problems that the regular

plan doesn't cure. You said it yourself that it's not the diet that is

hindering you, but the way you're eating. I think you just have to make the

decision on whether you will get down and dirty strict or if you need to

find something else you can live with. After all, this is a lifelong

commitment.

I'd just play it straight on induction for another 2 weeks. The seven

pounds you lost the first week show that you aren't metabolicaly resistant

(which is what the fat fast if for). I think it is more important that you

learn how to eat low carb and get comfortable in that than to try the fat

fast which will feel like a diet and isn't teaching you any low-carb eating

skills. Leave that for extreme measures - you aren't there yet :)

Which low carb treats were your downfall? You may have found some personal

trigger foods which should be avoided or need to figure out a better portion

control method. You can do this! Let us know how we can best help keep you

on track :)
