Guest guest
Your Free T3 is in a very high range. You may need to add a little T4 to the mix, if you can tolerate T4 meds. Tx Tests To All: I just received my saliva adrenocortex stress profile. The results are as follows: 7am-9am - 0.94; range 0.27 - 2.06. 11am-1pm - 0.20; range 0.03 - 0.77. 3pm-5pm - 0.13; range 0.03 - 0.56. 10pm-12am - 0.04; range 0.03 - 0.50. DHEA 7am-9am - 168; range 14 - 277. My last labs were as follows: TSH 0.05; range .50 - 5.00 Free T4 1.34; range .71 - 1.85 Free T3 553 range 230 - 420. Ferritin was 54; range 10-300. I have not spoken with my doc about the saliva test and what she recommends. I wanted ya'lls opinions first. I think I need, at least for awhile, some adrenal support. I was up to 3 grains on Armour and had to back down to 2 grains because of having terrible headaches. When I backed down the headaches stopped. I think that indicates adrenal involvement. Also, I am not feeling any better on just the Armour. Opinions please. Deborah

Guest guest
I tend to agree with you.. the thyroid labs aren't looking too horrible.. the adrenal tests, I'm not real up on those, to be honest... but if your labs show as they do and your symptoms as they are.. it would strongly suggest weak adrenals. DHEA is showing on the lower half of the range.. but I'm not sure how the numbers should be reading there either.. I based my decisions for both Adrenal glandular and DHEA on symptoms.... I went by my gut and it worked... Topper () On Tue, 10 Feb 2004 14:49:04 -0500 " son" writes: To All: I just received my saliva adrenocortex stress profile. Guest guest
Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for awhile. I still have your other email because of that. Yes, that T3 MAY be too high for YOU. For someone else, it might not be. I've never read/been familiar with the readings on the cortisol tests, though I think you're right about this issue. It appears to me that your adrenals are probably struggling to work themselves up barely inside a normal range, even for early in the morning, when they supposedly should be booming. The balance of the thyroid problem for you, may lie with the T4. You may need a little added, but have you been there with this combination before? I'm going to ask what may be some strange questions, but this is all in various articles I have read: Do you have a "less aggressive" personality these days, than you formerly had? Do you feel like staying in your house a lot (not agoraphobia, but something mildly similar)? Do you have trouble reacting to things, except in a more bland way these days than you formerly did? Do you have more trouble coping with various situations than you formerly did, i.e., feeling sickish or falling apart, more or less, with problems that are common to most in everyday life? Do you have dark circles under your eyes, even when you know that you feel like you've been sleeping reasonably well for several days? Do you have a tendency to worry more about a situation than you formerly did?-----Some people would say that these are all signs of depression, but they are listed in various places in different informational articles as guess what------weak adrenals! People who have naturally strong adrenals don't seem to have all these various problems. Tx Tests To All: I just received my saliva adrenocortex stress profile. Guest guest
could I get the articles from which you took these questions? I am gathering articles for my doctor. I am slowly educating her about thyroid and low and behold she is amenable to that. So the more info I can give her the better treatment she will give to me and others. Guest guest
The questions come from me, as related to everything I've read, over and over in various places. You've been with this group quite awhile now. Can you remember the one with the chart on it for comparison between thyroid and adrenal problems? That's one, but there are numerous articles online about this subject. Tx Re: Tests Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for awhile. Guest guest
These are MANY of a whole bunch of our symptoms, including me. The questions came from me, from everything I've gathered concerning either naturally weaker adrenals from birth, or acquired, after so many ongoing life stressors, etc.....Some people are born with naturally robust and larger more competent adrenals, although you couldn't say that those of us with naturally smaller weaker adrenals started out with actual disease in them. It just seems that the function of ours is more easily drained from different causes than these with the stronger adrenals. I will try to find a couple of specific articles, one of which I saved, if your doctor will take them seriously. Tx Re: Tests Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for awhile. Guest guest
Has anyone ever heard of having OVER active adrenals as an issue with Hashi's? My doctor just got my saliva tests back- I don't have a copy yet, but she said that my Midnight reading was double the normal range, my morning and noon readings were above normal and my 4 pm reading was normal. I've seen a lot on adrenal exhaustion, but not on hyperadrenal issues. They have me taking Seriphos (phosphorolate serine) an amino acid that is supposed to suppress my adrenal symptoms, but they said it may take 6-8 weeks before my body clock is back to normal. Has anyone else had these issues? Thanks > These are MANY of a whole bunch of our symptoms, including me. Guest guest
I take Phosphatidyl serine from HSN.com for high night time cortisol. It is really helping! When the adrenals are trying to compensate, they seem to go haywire. Have you aldosterone and renin and ferritin checked. Guest guest
Make sure it has no soy. Take 2 at night. maybe one in the morning if that doesn't work. It took about 2 weeks. Ferritin is the storage in your body for iron. If you are low and pushing yourself, something compensates. Same wit the other things which are part of the adrenal chain. Also, how is your dhea, testosterone and estrogen? Re: Tests> > > > > > Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for > awhile. I still have your other email because of that. Guest guest
It is good that you were diagnosed now, because, you see, this is usually the prelude to the crashed exhausted adrenals. Unless the adrenals are awfully strong, stress, physical stress, the environment, and all the other things that we have talked about here, drive up the cortisol pump. Then, one day, it crashes, and what do we have? Exhausted adrenals from being in overdrive for so long. If you haven't been here for very long, I'll post one of the articles that I've saved on adrenals. Tx Re: Tests > Has anyone ever heard of having OVER active adrenals as an issue with > Hashi's? Guest guest
Luckily, I outgrew the serious stuff. No more inhalers. Re: Tests Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for awhile. Tx
Guest guest
If you need them, keep them. I don't since I was 13. Guest guest
Could be the beginning or can be the beginning of s. Also can be under treated thyroid and the body compensating. That is why they do a dex suppression as well as check for pituitary issues, sex hormone issues, low thyroid, etc. The ankle bone is connected to the leg bone that is connected to the thigh bone, etc. Re: Tests> > > Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for awhile. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with asthma as a baby. My grandmother says they gave me medicine for it.... reckon this has anything to do with our thyroid? I really think it was probably all the smoke I was around before my grandparents got me. > >Reply-To: The_Thyroid_Support_Group >To: <The_Thyroid_Support_Group > >Subject: Re: Tests >Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2004 12:13:02 -0500 > >I'm still on them....but they have made the quality of my life so much >better...I'm afraid to quit......they got me off the couch....and moving >around...I wheezed 24 hours a day...and was always exhausted...I also use >Advair 250 and singulair........... > > Re: Tests > > > Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for >awhile. Guest guest
I agree about the smoke being a cause, but I also think, think being the key word that the cortisone stimulants had some sort of cause and effect. I don't think anyone has done a study on it though. Re: Tests>>> Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for >awhile. I still have your other email because of that. Guest guest
I was on the steroid inhalers long before the hashi diagnosis.........I had never questioned the link...although I do feel that either one and both....cause exhaustion for me.........I did get the levoxyl at the same time I got the advair250 inhaler and the singulair.....and the boost in my energy was terrific....I now only use the rescue inhaler or the nebulizer just a few times per year..............a while back...I was considering getting off all meds ( asthma, hashi and blood pressure).....but my husband reminded me that I would once again....be spending all of my life on the couch...to weak to get up....and the constant wheezing.....I chickened out....now this week...the doc called...and put me on crestor for high cholesterol.....UGH...........Tomorrow...I am starting a vegetarian diet....and regular 1 day juice fasts......I have to lose weight.......and I want to get healthy again.....I'm going to start by getting the excess weight off......then see after that.... Guest guest
Look, before I start, keep in mind I am a fat broad, but, many raw veggies block the thyroid meds. Juice carefully. so many of us have low iron and ferritin. Raw veggies can increase diarrhea. JMHO Re: Tests>>> Sometimes, when I'm pondering an answer, I think about it for >awhile.
