Guest guest
Hi sunshine, From your post, I'm getting the feeling that you may benefit a lot if you read one of the LC books again - the paperback versions are not very costly (you may even find a super-low-cost bargain at ebay), but you can also check one out of your local library. Either Atkins, or even one of the others - Protein Power, etc. That should clarify a lot of questions for you as to what carbohydrates are about, why excess carbs can be the problem, and how you could re-design the way you eat. You may also want to do a bit of research on the 'net - for instance, you will quickly find out that very often, low-fat and lite versions of various products have more carbs than the regular versions. Here is an excellent place to start: http://www.lowcarb.org. We've been there - or I have, in any case - and I know all too darn well that my downfall is thinking " it's not all that much, " " it's once in a while, " " it was just to add flavor. " I am astonished every single time when I see how the carbs just creep in while I'm not looking! In fact, every couple of weeks I keep a strict food diary for 2 or 3 days, and am amazed at how I can slip and slide without ever noticing that I was adding carbs here and there. Once you're on maintenance, it may get easier (oh I know I'm gonna get flak from all you maintainers out there!, LOL) - in the sense that using or leaving out things like 1/2 tspn of onion powder is going to be a less critical issue - but right now, it is absolutely critical, especially if you've been LCing in general, but have actually seen the scale go up. You probably are eating LC for the most part, I'm sure of it - but those fine-tuning adjustments are critical. You may have to say " no " to certain foods (at least during the weight loss phase) - and you will be giving yourself the best gift you can, if you bid a permanent farewell to junk food - but you definitely don't have to give up the joy and satisfaction of good-tasting, healthy food. Check out all the LC recipes available on the 'net - including, for example, super-easy ways to get the flavor of miracle whip and still keep it an LC food. You don't have to give up the flavor of ketchup either - you can buy or prepare a non-sugar version. The site I noted above will get you started with links to great recipes and food tips, too.
