I have read alot about that here. I have had my thyroid checked many times....but nothing shows up. I still have a lot of the symptoms and suspect it has to do with the implants. I wonder what I should have my Dr. check? Does anyone know? They check your thyroid hormones via bloodwork called a "TSH Test." (I think it means "Thyroid Stimulating Hormone.") I'm thinking they check the T3 and T4 hormones. It's VERY simple. In my case, I was not only diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (low thyroid), but also Hashimoto's Disease ---autoimmune disease of the thyroid. I was 23. (I'm now 31.) My mother was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease at age 62, my sister was also diagnosed in her 30's. While it's rare, I believe Hashimoto's Disease is hereditary ---so maybe implants boosted the speed in which I got this. (Although my mom nor sister have weight problems ---they can't HOLD weight, and I have had been very over weight since I steadily gained weight the year after implanting.) Hypothyroidism (without the autoimmune part) isn't so rare -it's very common. It just means your thyroid isn't producing enough hormone. If you suspect a thyroid condition at all, make your doctors keep tabs on checking your TSH levels routinely so that if they ever are off ---you can nip it in the bud and get medicated as quickly as possible. Most doctors don't do anything until you've already gained 30-100 pounds. (Mine was 100.) Then there's no getting it off. It's nearly impossible! The test to check it is too simple for them NOT to keep tabs on it. Thyroid issues aren't just a matter of weight gain or weight loss ---the thyroid affects your whole body. The thyroid controls the metabolism of every cell in your body. Good luck! Brigite
