Hi ,

I know just what you mean. It is very hard to change habits that we have had for

so many years. I’d only been following Bee’s healing diet for a month, but I

had been gluten free for a year (that had been really hard). I had also mostly

tried to eliminate other grains before this but I still had to avoid rice and

fruit. I was just starting to get used to doing this when I had a stroke.

And now, because I was in the hospital for several days, I have to start over

again. Of course I couldn’t eat for the first 24 hours, but then when they

brought me my first meal it was a pancake and syrup, etc. I tried to tell the

nurse that I was gluten free and low carb (I knew he understood because he wrote

it on the board on the wall), so he took that meal away and a while later they

brought another tray. It was 1 scrambled egg, but the rest of it was gluten free

bread, Rice Chex cereal and skim milk and fruit. I took a bite of the scrambled

egg but I couldn’t taste anything. I forced myself to eat it anyway because I

knew I needed to eat.

I was hoping it would get better, but it got worse. That day and the next the

food they brought was still mostly grain and fruit. At first everything tasted

awful to me but gradually my taste came back. Finally I gave in and ate some

mashed potatoes with my tiny portion of meat because I knew I needed the

nourishment. I had already eaten some plain lettuce as the dressing they gave me

tasted so bad. Finally I got to talk to a dietician, but they only had certain

foods available. I was able to choose my own food, but I had to make some

compromises. Oh, and of course everything was very low fat (margarine) and low

salt (or no salt).

Now I’m home and of course I’ve got the cravings back, but I know I did it

once and so I can do it again. I was just starting to feel really good so I know

it was starting to work.

thanks for the time you spent answering my question. I haven't had nicoteine for

6+ weeks, no coffee either, a few cheats and all my pleasure centers seem to be

shut done and I'm going nutty. Kinda of like why live? I don't have a familly.

What I'm trying to ask I guess is....are there any foods that help people

through this bland diet? The recipes are not set up for the small amounts of

foods we eat; I guess we all go through thid dry rot in our stomach.

One Q. for sure. Does our sauerkraut really need to be aged 6-7 weeks. I ate

mine at 2 and I seemed okay. I asked this Q. to Bee and she gave no response. I

guess it's a stupid Q. I cheated and ate a salad the other night. You quit

smoking. Did you do it while on this diet?

Thanks

in Abq.

P.S. I may be irritable right now, but Bee seems like a mean ole lady...always

talking about Copyrights...etc. even spoke with her and paid the $50 and she

really wasn't that helpful. Her site is very difficult for me to read with

continuity. I lose my self in it. There just doesn't seem to be a place where

there is a list of foods or drinks that help people feel like they are cheating

even though they are not. I'm going throught errible withdrawal from no

chocolate covered pretzels once a week. At this point though they do just make

me sick though.
