Guest guest
Please call the FDA on Wednesday, July 26th We recently ran an ad in a Washington, DC newspaper frequently read by those on Capitol Hill and at the FDA Metro station where it will be up for one month (click here to see the Metro ad and here to see the newspaper ad). The ads send a clear message to acting FDA Commissioner von Eschenbach that we are watching. But we want to turn up the heat on we would like your help by participating in a national phone-in protest on Wednesday, July 26th. That's right; on Wednesday, July 26th we want all our activists to call the FDA. Let's see if we can flood their switchboards. We are asking you to make one toll-free phone call to Commissioner von Eschenbach's office to voice your objections to FDA approval for silicone breast implants. And spread the word to your friends and families to make calls too! Phone Number: FDA Commissioner Dr. von Eschenbach: 1-888-463-6332; then press option 3 "contact employee" and ask the operator for von Eschenbach's office. What to Say: Here is what you should say to von Eschenbach's office: I am calling to voice my concern that the FDA has expressed its intent to approve silicone breast implants despite its own research showing that almost half of all breast implants break within 10 years. Silicone can leak into various organs in the body and the health effects are still unknown. And now new research indicates that toxic platinum may also leak into the body. I want to let von Eschenbach know that women are counting on him to keep unsafe products off the market. Please tell von Eschenbach not to approve silicone breast implants because questions remain about the long term health effects of silicone and whether toxic platinum leaks from implants. The FDA needs to put safety first!
