Guest guest
Robin, I just got diagnosed with stenosis too. I've had it for years though in the Thoracic region and probably in lumbar too(getting MRI next week). The only thing that helps the nerve pain associated with it for me is Lidoderm patches and Lyrica. I can't tolerate the Lyrica though and had to stop it. Pain meds take the edge off. And Zanaflex helps with my muscle spasms and pain. I'm going to start PT soon too. Everyone is different, what helps me might not help someone else. Hope you get some relief. I was told that the surgery to fix this type of problem was far to risky for what my symptoms are now and that he would not consider it. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
MODERATOR'S NOTE: Whenever anyone wants to know the potential side effects of a medication, just go to that medication's website - usually the URL is the medication's name. In this case: www.lyrica.com All the patient information will be available there. In addition, you can consult the Physician's Desk Reference online: www.pdrhealth.com or MedlinePlus - www.medlineplus.gov These are both reputable sources of information. Caitlin, Could you tell me what the side effects were for Lyrica? I am thinking of asking for it and would like to have an idea before taking it. Thank you. Guest guest
Hello Again, Everyone has different side effects so you might want to look them over on Lyrica website and see. Lyrica is specifically for nerve related pain and Fibro pain (did not help fibro pain for me), but Vicoden (hydrocodone) is for pain in general. As we all know, nerve pain isn't like " normal " pain, it tends to be much worse and usually pain meds don't work as well as nerve pain meds (most nerve pain meds are actually anti-seizure meds). I was actually using them together (hydrocodone and Lyrica) and it did help the pain more using both. You can also search the CP archives and there are a lot of threads and discussion about Lyrica so you can get a general idea of the good and the bad effects people have had with it.
