He sounded fairly rational on the phone and if you hadn't dealt with him before, you'd probably not guess he had a " problem " (not that it matters much from a dispatch point of view, anyway - even " mentals " can be victims). He called one evening to report that he had " two men dressed as women " sitting in his house who refused to leave and wanted an officer to make them leave. The officer who responded had a new (to us) reserve who'd previously worked for LAPD. They are invited in and ask where the two men are. The reporting party (RP) said that they must have just walked into the kitchen when he answer the door. The reserve rushed off to interview them, then returned to report that they must have left. The reserve then returns to the RP and proceeded to take a statement, figuring there was probably some type of crime that had taken place. After about ten minutes into the interview, the regular officer asked the RP if he was still having problems with bugs. The RP then started scratching him self and said (in effect), " Oh yes, they are still crawling around in my body and like to hide in my elbows. " A lightbulb finally went on for the reserve, who closed his notebook, told the RP to call if the men returned, then exited. " Bugs " became a good punchline to use on him for the next six months.
