Guest guest
I've taken supplemental B-12 since my small-bowel resection in 1982 left me without the portion of the small intestine that absorbs B-12. I used to get shots, but going to a doctor's office just for that got to be a hassle. To say nothing of the nurses' comments about how little of my butt cheeks were left in which to stick the needle. I've read that virtually Crohn's patient who's had a resection cannot absorb B-12 anymore, and perhaps as many as 60 percent of all Crohnies have this same problem. For the last couple of years I've had doctors prescribe a nasal inhalant form of syntethic B-12 called Nascobal (500 mcg/0.1 ml). One good snort a week takes care of the problem. Fortunately I have a mail-order Rx plan to reduce my out-of-pocket cost. I've found it for sale at Internet sites for around $65 (US) a bottle, which is one-month's dosage. The FDA has approved Nascobal specifically for treatment of Crohn's, HIV, AIDS, and multiple sclerosis. The company's Web site is http://www.nastech.com/nascobal/ Rich in KC _________________________________________________________________ Unlimited Internet access for only $21.95/month.
