They got sick even when the implants didn't rupture. In fact, this actually goes even further back, when silicone was injected into breasts to make them bigger and women got sick. It's the silicone that is the problem. Saline implants still have a silicone shell. Of course, taking the implants out is the most common sense approach. The body is not meant to have a foreign object in it. If you were healthy before you got implants, then the best approach is to go back to that state. We have seen many, many women get their health back once the implants are taken out. Some have lab work that has improved to show that. I am one of those women. Some women have had lupus markers with a high ANA that returned to normal after implant removal. Another hadher thyroid antibodies go down by the thousands! Others have had relief from joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, numbness and tingling, and all kinds of other symptoms. It is much more than coincidence, as anyone can tell. However, there are few doctors who take this stance, due to the large amounts of money that have been thrown at this controversy by those who have the most to lose, which are the manufacturers. They have hired big gun public relations firms to make sure that implants are seen as "safe" by most people, and most doctors get their information from the manufacturers. But there are an increasing number of doctors who are making the connection, connecting the dots between their many sick patients and those who have implants. There are plastic surgeons out there who understand the need for a proper explant. I would only recommend these doctors for explant, based on theirexperience, compassion and knowledge. They would be Dr. Lu Feng in Ohio (www.drfeng.com, Dr. Kolb in Atlanta, Georgia (www.plastikos.com and http://www.orgsites.com/fl/adjuvantdisease/ ) and Dr. Melmed (http://runningrace.freeyellow.com/explantation/feature.html of Dallas Texas. There are others around the country, but sometimes they waffle in their views, and those three are consistently on our side. Hope this helps.
