It is sad , yes as my entire family lives here, etc, and I have lived nowhere else but if something doesn't change soon we will have to do something. I obviously do not get child support as I am still married - we actually pay it to my hubby's ex-wife for the next 3 years or so.... If she were a little older things would not be so bad around here... Actually with the property value going sooooo nutty here we have had an enormous increase in prop taxes but also a large increase in prop value as well... when we recently refinanced due to my loss of disability and 'appeal" as we knew we would have to wait and did not want to lose our home, etc., we got a good rate, paid off my truck, all cc's, etc.... we have a lot less bills now and the mtg. payment has not increased that much so we should be ok for a while... hopefully this appeal will not take as obnoxiously long as I think it will and we will be able to hold on a while... also - we still have quite a bit of equity left so if we were forced to sell we would still make a decent profit which is good... if we had to move out of state for example, we would have enough for a nice downpayment if not more depending on where we went... my hubby is from West Virginia.... he has talked for years about moving back up there -I have resisted due to the winters as I have never really experienced a real winter.. he always said he wouldn't either until his daughter was out of school. Anyway - my parents just bought a summer home up there - large home for Florida standards - for a fraction of what a shack would cost here... you couldn't get condo in a bad part of town for that here - and the home is really nice - right by a ski resort... anyways - just saying. we could have sold our home and paid cash or close to it for that place which is really nice.... just depends on where you live... I am sure Hawaii is way more expensive then Florida - like California and NY and some other places that come to mind are... but I have looked online and seen properties near places where he would like to live for a fraction of what a home would be here. Guest guest Posted July 26, 2006 Report Share Posted July 26, 2006 sounds nice Terri... about like our area.... if we need to get into a better area though we will have to get into the carolinas of virginia, west virginia, etc... these places we could have three times the home or better yet - three times the money left over.... if we were to - say move to West Virginia or some where near where he wants to, we could buy a home - probably larger than ours... our is a 4/2 - newer home... up there would be an older home but larger (sq footage wise) as it would have a basement more than likely -can't have one here... too low... most we have looked at on our trips to visit family up there are a third or less than we paid for ours - really nice places as well....most with larger yards, too. we could get the same size approx, home there and pay with the equity we have here and almost pay outright for it and have $$ leftover.... sounds crazy to me as I have always lived here but after seeing my parents new place.... well we may have to do it... anyways - gotta get to bed here good luck to all tonight!! shari Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
